BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell men's soccer has announced its 2024 season schedule. The Camels kick off the 18-match regular season Aug. 23 and will host 10 contests.
After preseason exhibitions at North Carolina (Aug. 9) and in Buies Creek vs. NC State (Aug. 14), the Camels officially open the 2024 campaign at home against Radford (Aug. 23). Campbell has won the past five matches against its former Big South rival and stands 17-14-1 all-time against the Highlanders.
Campbell rounds out its season opening three-match home stand against NC Wesleyan (Aug. 25) and Old Dominion (Aug. 29).
The Camels travel to face A-10 member Davidson on Sept. 2 for the 19th matchup between the in-state rivals, who first met in 1963 in Campbell's inaugural season.
CU remains on the road as it heads to Boston in its CAA opener at Northeastern on Sept. 7. Last season Campbell defeated Northeastern 1-0 at Eakes Athletics Complex for its first-ever CAA win.
Returning home for its next two matches, Campbell meets Virginia Commonwealth on Sept. 11 before taking on CAA foe Monmouth on Sept. 14. VCU claimed the A10 regular season title last season after finishing 7-6-5 overall and 5-1-2 in league games.
Campbell travels to face Charlotte on Sept. 17 for the 22nd time in program history and first since 2014.
A week later, the Camels host UNCW for the 57th edition of the Cape Fear River Derby. Campbell is 28-25-3 in the all-time series against the Seahawks, which dates back to 1966.
Campbell hits the road for four of its next five matches through the end of September and into October starting with a trip to Delaware on Sept. 29. Teva Lossec scored and helped Campbell earn a 1-1 draw against the Blue Hens in its CAA opener last season.
The Camels head to Longwood in a series CU leads 8-4-1 on Oct. 1 before returning home to host Stony Brook in the first meeting between both sides on Oct. 5.
Longtime rival Coastal Carolina and the Camels face off on Oct. 8 in Conway, S.C. in the 29th all-time meeting between the programs. Campbell battled the Chanticleers to a 1-1 draw the last time the teams met in 2022.
On Oct. 12 the Camels head to three-time defending CAA champions Hofstra. Lossec and Tai-Reece Chisholm each scored goals in a 2-2 draw with the Pride last September.
CU meets Charleston for the first time since 2006 on Oct. 19 at Eakes. The Camels routinely faced the Cougars throughout the 1990s as A-Sun members in a series that stands 8-8-1 all-time.
After hosting Winthrop on Oct. 22, Campbell wraps up the CAA regular season by traveling to William & Mary on Oct. 26 and facing Elon at home on Nov. 2. Last season the Camels defeated the Tribe 2-1 on homecoming and fell short of a comeback in the midst of a torrential downpour in the second half in a 3-2 loss at Elon.
The CAA Championship is set to begin Thursday, Nov. 7 with first round matchups followed by the semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 10 and the final on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Campbell enters its 10th season under Coach Fonder, who has led the program to three NCAA Tournament appearances and six conference trophies since 2018.
