Camels announce non-conference schedule

BUIES CREEK - The Fighting Camels will play a 13-game non-conference schedule including three games against teams from the Power Four conferences this season. The 2024-25 season gets underway Nov. 4 in Buies Creek.

The slate features five home games and eight road tests before the program's second go-round in the CAA.

"The non-conference schedule is built to prepare us for CAA play," head coach Kevin McGeehan said. "We are excited to have an opportunity to play in Charlottesville (UVA), Columbus (Ohio State) and Chapel Hill (UNC), and welcome so high quality opponents with some traditional rivals in Coastal Carolina and Longwood to Gore Arena. This team will be forced to face some tough challenges in the non-conference slate and we believe that will help strengthen us to compete at a high level in CAA play."

Five of the opponents were on the schedule last season as well, with CU going 4-1 in those games a year ago. Those games are against Pfeiffer (Nov. 4), St. Francis (Nov. 10), at Navy (Nov. 17), at The Citadel (Dec. 12), and at Morgan State (Dec. 15)

Campbell faces three teams from the Power Four conferences: at Virginia (Nov. 6), at Ohio State (Nov. 22) and at North Carolina (Dec. 29). That marks the most power conference teams in one season since 2011-12.

The season opener will take place at home against Pfeiffer on Nov. 4. Campbell then faces a quick turnaround with its first road test at Virginia two days later on Nov. 6.

The Camels play two in a row at home against St. Francis and Newberry on Nov. 10 and 13, respectively. Campbell will not play another home game following those two until Dec. 4.

The longest road trip of the season is a four-game stretch from Nov. 17 to Nov. 30. Things start in Annapolis against Navy, a return trip from last year's season opener, a 59-58 Campbell victory.

Campbell will head to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State Nov. 22 in the first of three games that are part of the Ohio State MTE. The Fighting Camels will also play at Evansville (Nov. 24) and at Green Bay (Nov. 30) as part of the MTE.

The Camels return home Dec. 4 to host Coastal Carolina. It will be the Chanticleers first trip to Buies Creek since 2018.

Campbell plays a pair of road games as return trips from last season, visiting The Citadel on Dec. 12 and Morgan State on Dec. 15. Campbell downed the Bulldogs 65-58, and the Bears 83-76 in 2023.

The final non-conference home game renews an old Big South rivalry with Longwood on Dec. 18.

Campbell wraps up the non-conference slate against North Carolina on Dec. 29.  The contest in Chapel Hill will be the first-ever meeting between the programs, despite being just over an hour apart.

The full non-conference slate leads into the start of CAA play on Jan. 2 against Drexel in Gore Arena. The full 2024-25 season schedule, including league play, is now available here.

Both season ticket and single game ticket information will be available in the coming months as the season approaches.
