Camels return home to host Charleston

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell returns home for a pair of CAA games starting Thursday night against Charleston. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloCollege.

Thursday night will feature a Brooks & Reid Hoop Room with pregame hospitality and the chance to hear from head football coach Braxton Harris, in addition to head basketball coach Kevin McGeehan.

Series History
The Camels and Cougars have met 19 times with Campbell sitting 4-15 in those meetings. The sides have squared off just four times since the turn of the century in a now-renewed series with Campbell's move to the CAA. A win Thursday would be Campbell's first over Charleston since 1991.

Campbell was swept by Charleston last season. Jasin Sinani scored a team-high 21 points in the loss the last time Charleston came to Buies Creek.

Scouting The Cougars
Charleston, the defending league champion, enters the season at 13-4, 3-1 and tied for second place in the CAA under Chris Mack in his first year at the helm. The Cougars won their first three league games before being upended by Monmouth last Saturday.

The team is led by Ante Brzovic, the reigning CAA player of the year. The senior is averaging 18.8 points, and 8.5 rebounds per game, both marks good for third in the league. He's helped out by CJ Fulton, the CAA's leading passer with 6.1 assists per game.

Charleston was picked to finish second in the CAA preseason poll, receiving three of the 14 first-place votes.

Last Time Out
Campbell fell 81-68 at Elon Monday night despite a 29 point effort from Colby Duggan. Duggan took his scoring average to 20.5 in CAA play after connecting on three three-pointers and going a perfect 8-8 at the foul line.

The Camels played from behind the whole game after Elon shot nearly 60% in the first half. CU trailed by just six in the second half, but could not draw any closer.

Looking Ahead
Campbell hosts Monmouth Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Game, where five Camel legends will be enshrined into the athletics Hall of Fame. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege.
