Camels host Monmouth in Hall of Fame Game

BUIES CREEK - Campbell hosts Monmouth Saturday afternoon at the annual Hall of Fame game. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. on FloCollge. The game features the two top scorers so far in league play with Colby Duggan (20.6 ppg), and Abdi Bashir Jr., (22.4).

Series History
The Camels are 1-3 all-time against Monmouth, with a home-and-home series in 1983 before the teams squared off twice as league foes last season. Monmouth won both last year, the first of which was on a half-court shot as time expired to beat Campbell 88-87. The sides met again in the CAA tournament, as Campbell was eliminated in a 90-67 defeat.

Last Time Out
Shooting woes left Campbell just short in a 67-61 loss to Charleston on Thursday night. The Camels went 2-21 from distance and 9-16 at the foul line, both the worst marks of the season, in the loss.

Campbell had success elsewhere, shooting 68% on two-pointers, and kept the preseason player of the year Ante Brzovic in check, holding him to eight points and six rebounds.

Colby Duggan led Campbell in points (21), rebounds (6), and assists (4) on the night.

Scouting the Hawks
Monmouth enters at 5-13, 3-2 in the league and have hit their stride of late. The Hawks got off to a slow start at 1-10 on the year, before winning five of their their last eight contests including league wins over Stony Brook, Charleston, and NC A&T.

The Hawks are led by Abdi Bashir Jr., the CAA's top scorer at 21.4 points per game on the year. The 6'7" guard leads the country in three-point shooting with 68 made threes this season on 42% from distance.

Monmouth was picked to finish eighth in the CAA preseason poll under head coach King Rice in his 14th season with the program.

Campbell will recognize the five newest members of the Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame at halftime. This year's class features: Pat Brogden (women's tennis), Jerry Brooks (wrestling), John Crooks (golf), Bev Shepard Marley (volleyball), and Dale Steele (football).
