Camels head to Bash in the Boro

14-team event hosted by Georgia Southern

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell continues its men's golf fall schedule next week at the Bash in the Boro, hosted by Georgia Southern University at the GSU Golf Course.
 
The 14-team field includes host Georgia Southern and fellow Sun Belt member, plus Campbell and CAA rival and three Big South schools (Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, Winthrop).  The teams will play 36 holes on Monday followed by the final round Tuesday.  Live scoring will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
 
Campbell will compete in Statesboro without Joachim Larsen, who owns the team's second-lowest stroke average (72.0) through two events.  The junior from Lier, Norway is representing his country this week in the World Amateur Team Championship in Singapore.
 
Head coach Matt Moot's lineup includes juniors Erik Johansson and Logan Graf, sophomore Benjamin Killingstad and freshmen William Sundborn and Logan Graf.  Senior Malik Dao will compete as an individual.
 
Campbell opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate at Grande Dunes before posting a seventh-place effort at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.  Through two events, the Camels have played their second and third rounds a combined seven under par.

Format: 54 holes (36-18); 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday and Tuesday.

The Course: Georgia Southern University GC (Par 72, 6900 Yards)
The Georgia Southern University Golf Course at University Park is an 18-hole championship course opened in October 2013. The 167-acre tract of land is located six miles south of Georgia Southern's main campus in a residential area of Bulloch County. The course is 6,900 yards from the championship tees and includes TifEagle greens and Tifway 419 fairways.
 
The Coach: After spending seven seasons as assistant and associate head coach, Matt Moot is in his first year as head coach at his alma mater. During his time on the Camel staff, Moot has helped lead Campbell to five NCAA post-season trips, 12 tournament titles and three conference crowns.  Moot helped develop the 2017, 2019 (Jesper Svensson), 2018 (Ray Kraivixien) and 2021 (Pontus Nyholm) Big South Conference golfers of the year as well as four-straight league rookies of the year in Henric Bjelke (2022), Tim Holmberg (2023), Erik Johansson (CAA 2024) and Benjamin Killingstad (CAA 2025).  During his playing career (2007-11) at Campbell, Moot compiled 11 top-10 individual finishes and was a two-time Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.  He competed in the 2009 and 2011 NCAA regionals.
 
The Lineup:
 
Junior Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) owns a team-leading 71.5 scoring average following a T9 finish at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational (74-69-68—211).  He has posted five top-10 finishes in 25 tournaments and played par, or better, golf in 30 of 72 career rounds with 12 rounds in the 60s.  During his freshman campaign, he was named CAA rookie of the year, first-team All-CAA, won the 2024 Seahawk Intercollegiate and earned an individual berth in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional.
 
Freshman William Sundborn (Oslo, Norway) was Campbell's low individual in its season-opening tournament at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was 1-over-par (71-74-72—217) and tied for 33rd place and carries a 73.3 stroke average into the Georgia Southern event.  Sundborn posted one victory and 17 top 10s in 33 WAGR tournaments.
 
Sophomore Benjamin Killingstad (Blommenholm, Norway) takes a 75.7 scoring average into the Bash in the Boro.  He has played par, or better, golf in three of six rounds this season.  Killingstad was named the 2025 CAA Rookie of the Year.  He amassed the 8th-lowest stroke average ever by a CU freshman (73.403) and earned three top five finishes in his first collegiate season, including a T4 (72-74-72—218) at the CAA Championship.
 
Freshman Adrian Bergqvist (Stockholm, Sweden) carries a 74.5 stroke average throught a pair of tournaments.  He shot 79-68-77—224 to tie for 62nd in his collegiate debut at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate.  He joined the Camel program this season after earning one victory and six top-10 finishes in 15 World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) events.
 
Red-shirt junior Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) finished T14 at the Shepherd's Rock Individual (73-78-73—224) in his first outing this season.  Graf played in five events during the 2024-25 campaign and posted a 76.1 stroke average for the Camels.  He finished T18 (71-72-71—214) in his Campbell debut at the Battle at Briar's Creek.  Graf fired a season-low 69 in Cutter Creek Invitational (69-78-73—220, T27), where he helped CU win team title.
 
Senior Malik Dao (Notre-Dame-de'I'll-Perrot, Quebec) will make his Campbell debut while competing as an individual at the Bash in the Boro.  Before transferring to Campbell in the fall of 2024, Dao participated in 12 events over two seasons at Eastern Kentucky University, including the 2023 and 2024 ASUN Championships.  He won the 2020 Quebec Amateur Championship and is a former Canadian National and Quebec Provincial team member.
 
Next: Following the Bash in the Boro, Campbell will compete in the Furman Intercollegiate, Oct. 18-19 at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
