BUIES CREEK, N.C. – After a career day, leading Campbell to a road CAA win, sophomore running back
JJ Cowan has been named the league's offensive player of the week.
Cowan rushed for career highs of 142 yards and three touchdowns, powering Campbell to a 38-21 win at Hampton. The Erwin native carried the ball 16 times, punching in scores of one and five yards in the second and third quarters, including the go-ahead TD, to cap CU drives, then sealed the win with a 63-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Cowan adding a 14-yard reception in the win.
With his first career 100-yard game, Cowan helped Campbell pile up 301 rushing yards against the Pirates, the most by a CU team ever against a CAA opponent (since 2023).
Cowan is the second Camel this season to earn CAA weekly honors, joining wide receiver
Randall King, who was named the conference's offensive player of the week on September 22.
Next up, the Camels return home on October 18, hosting New Hampshire (3:30 p.m.) for Homecoming.
