Wolkow tabbed CAA Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK - Gwen Wolkow was tabbed as CAA Player of the Week for the second time this season following a big weekend at UNCW. The senior logged four career-highs and reached a major career milestone over the weekend.

Wolkow set or tied single-match career highs in kills (24), blocks (5), aces (5) and hitting percentage (.404) against UNCW.

She also tallied her 1000th career kill during Saturday's match, becoming just the 15th Camel to reach the milestone.

The Downers Grove, Ill. product powered Campbell to Friday's five-set win with a career-best 24 kills on .404 hitting. Her hitting percentage was a career best in a match with at least 30 attacks, and her 24 slams were the most by a Camel since 2019. The outside hitter added a personal-best five service aces on the night and came up with 10 digs for a double-double.

Wolkow stayed hot on Sunday with 11 kills but proved to be more of a defensive force with a team-high five blocks, including stuffs on the last two points of the match, to tie her career-high.

Wolkow is the first Camel to earn Player of the Week nods in the same season since Sarah Colla did so twice in the 2019 Big South season. She is also the only player in the CAA to earn the award twice this season.

The Camels are back in action Friday and Saturday as part of Homecoming Weekend at Campbell. Follow @GoCamelsVB for more team updates and content.
