#FightLikeHill | Camels to partner with V Foundation

BUIES CREEK - The Campbell men's basketball team has partnered with the V Foundation for Cancer Research to Fight Like Hill, a fundraising campaign in honor of Associate Head Coach Eddie Hill. Coach Hill, hired on June 21, 2025, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer in August, and continues to undergo treatment throughout the early stages of the season.

Following diagnosis and surgery, Hill spent the remainder of the preseason at home in Dallas, undergoing five weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. He returned to Buies Creek full time in the week before the season, and has been with the team ever since, including traveling to Wisconsin and West Virginia.

Hill continues to undergo regular treatment at the Duke Cancer Center in Durham, NC.

"Four months into this cancer experience, it's life changing," Hill said. "I've had so many people offer prayer and being so supportive, starting with the people here on campus.

"When you go through something like this you recognize how fragile life is and how important every moment is. You realize how important the relationships you have are, with the people that you love and those that love you. They [the team] were there for me and I want to be there for them."

The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary NC State basketball coach and commentator. The V Foundation is dedicated to funding game-changing cancer research and all-star scientists to accelerate Victory over Cancer(R) and save lives.

The V Foundation has awarded over $458 million in game-changing cancer research grants across North America, with 100% of direct donations going directly to cancer research, as an endowment covers administrative expenses.
