Smith named CAA Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK - DJ Smith got off to a hot start with Campbell, averaging 21.0 ppg in a three-game week to earn CAA Player of the Week honors in the first week of the 2025-26 campaign.

The graduate transfer leads the CAA in scoring (21.0) among players with more than one game played in the opening week, and leads all players in three-pointers (11).

Smith opened the season with a 23-point performance at No. 24 Wisconsin, going 4-10 from distance. His 23 points were the most by a Camel in a season opener since Chris Clemons went for 44 against UNCW to open the 2018-19 season.

In his lowest scoring output of the week at West Virginia, the 6'0" guard score 11 points along with eight rebounds against the Big 12 foe.

Smith really got going in the home opener, pouring in a career-high 29 against Western Michigan to help Campbell to its first win of the year. He connected on 6-12 from downtown and 9-12 at the foul line.

Smith and the Camels are back in action Thursday night at home against Barber-Scotia. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
