PREVIEWING THE MATCHUP
Lander enters the weekend undefeated after conference wins over Coker and UNC Pembroke by a combined score of 67–12. The Bearcats, picked to finish first in Conference Carolinas, are seeking their fifth straight league title and fourth consecutive NCAA Super Region II crown. They were selected second in the NWCA Division II preseason poll and are the only program in the nation with all 10 projected starters ranked in the top 15 of their respective weight classes. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
Penn enters the event receiving votes in the NWCA Division I Coaches' Poll. The Quakers opened the season at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic and returned two NCAA qualifiers: Cross Wasilewski (149) and Jude Swisher (157). At the 2025 Ivy League Championships, Wasilewski won the 149-pound title, while Swisher finished runner-up at 157. This will be the second all-time meeting between the Camels and Quakers. Penn won the first matchup in December 2017, edging Campbell 16–15 at a neutral site in Hempstead, N.Y.
To open its SoCon slate, Campbell will face Presbyterian in the final dual of the day. The Blue Hose were picked to finish last in the SoCon preseason poll. Presbyterian sent six wrestlers to the Southeast Open earlier this month, where 141-pounder Ryan Luna earned four consolation wins to take sixth in his weight class. Since the program's establishment in 2019, Presbyterian has faced Campbell five times, with the Camels winning all five. The most recent meeting came last season in Buies Creek, a 35-12 Campbell victory.
LAST TIME OUT
The Campbell wrestling team earned its first win of the 2025–26 season Saturday at the Mason Duals in Fairfax, Va., defeating Williams College 28-14 while also competing against George Mason and Bloomsburg. Four Camels, freshman
Colby Crouch, sophomore
Ryan Phillips, sophomore
Kendrick Hodge and redshirt senior
Conor Maslanek, led the way with two wins each. Campbell opened against George Mason, highlighted by a major decision from Crouch and late wins from Maslanek and heavyweight freshman
Brycen Arthur, but ultimately fell 34-13.
The Camels rebounded with a strong performance against Williams, taking seven of 10 bouts behind wins from Crouch, Phillips, Hodge and Maslanek, along with key results from redshirt freshman
Brandon Bauer, graduate student
Ryan Bolletino and Arthur. In the final dual, Campbell couldn't overcome an early deficit against Bloomsburg despite victories from Phillips, Hodge and senior
Brant Cracraft, closing the day with a 28-12 setback.
PRESEASON TALK
Campbell was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Camels enter their first season under head coach
TJ Dudley, a three-time All-American who was promoted after serving as a Campbell assistant. Dudley takes over a program that went 7-1 in SoCon duals last season, earning wins over Gardner-Webb, Chattanooga, Davidson, Bellarmine, Presbyterian, VMI and Appalachian State.
