Wrestling continues early season slate at Lucha Open

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The 2025–26 Campbell wrestling season continues Saturday as the Fighting Camels travel to the Lucha Open, hosted by Life University. Ten Camels are slated to compete in the Gold Division across seven weight classes.

The event will be held at the Legacy Arena in Douglasville, Ga., beginning at 8 a.m. The tournament will stream live on FloWrestling, with brackets, live results and additional information also available.

LAST TIME OUT

Campbell competed in three duals at the Throwdown on the Yorktown, highlighted by standout individual performances and a strong finish to the day. After dropping matchups to No. 2 Division II Lander and RV Penn, the Camels still produced several key results. Graduate student Logan Heil and sophomore Pablo Macias earned decisions against Lander, while redshirt freshman Anthony Ferrari and redshirt senior Conor Maslanek delivered ranked wins against Penn. Ferrari upset No. 32/43 Sean Seefeldt at 165 pounds in his debut, and Maslanek topped No. 27/43 Marin Cosgrove at 197.

Campbell closed the event with a resilient 21-19 comeback victory over Presbyterian to open SoCon play 1-0. Trailing 13-4 midway through the dual, Macias sparked the rally with a late third-period pin, followed by a tech fall from Ferrari and a hard-fought 15-11 win from graduate student Ryan Bolletino. Maslanek added his second victory of the day with a 10-6 decision at 197, giving Campbell the edge.

IN THE RANKINGS

Four Camels are ranked in the top 100 of their respective weight classes by WrestleStat:

#62 Conor Maslanek (197) | 7–4 overall, 4–2 duals
#65 Colby Crouch (125) | 6–1 overall, 2–1 duals
#78 Logan Heil (133) | 2–1 overall, 2–1 duals
#100 Anthony Ferrari (165) | 2–0 overall, 2–0 duals

PRESEASON TALK

Campbell was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Camels enter their first season under head coach TJ Dudley, a three-time All-American who was promoted after serving as a Campbell assistant. Dudley takes over a program that went 7-1 in SoCon duals last season, earning wins over Gardner-Webb, Chattanooga, Davidson, Bellarmine, Presbyterian, VMI and Appalachian State.
