Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Campbell is now 6-0 in the CAA after a doubleheader against North Carolina A&T today.
The Camels improved to 18-7 (6-0 CAA) for the year, and the Aggies are now 5-19 (0-6 CAA).
Game One
Campbell scored one run in the first inning after Hannah Cornetto hit an RBI that scored Charlie Montgomery, who reached base on an error. The Camels scored 10 runs in the second inning with Cadan Brinkman starting it off with an RBI double. Alyssa Armijo then singled to center and Brinkman scored on an error by right field. Armijo was brought in after Tyra Parker reached first on an error.
Montgomery singled to shortstop and reached first, and then later scored on an error by second base.
Madison Ford and
Janel Day hit RBI singles and
Allyiah Swiney hit a two RBI single. Swiney scored on a wild pitch, and then Day scored after
Ashlyn Porter hit an RBI groundout. Swiney hit another RBI single in the fifth inning to give the Camels their final run of the game.
The Aggies scored their first run in the fifth inning after Katriel Williams hit a two RBI triple, scoring Roshell Williams and Aaliyah Williams. Jaden James then hit an RBI sac fly, which brought in K Williams.
Aaliyah Williams (1-6) was credited with the loss after pitching 1.1 innings and allowing six hits, seven earned runs, two walks and one strikeout.
Megan Gregory (4-1) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing four hits, two earned runs, one walk and six strikeouts.
Game Two
Montgomery hit a single to left field, reached third base on a fielding error and then scored the first run for the Camels on a wild pitch. In the top of the third inning Ford drew a walk and Armijo scored. Amber DeSena then hit a two RBI single that scored Ford and Parker, who reached base on a bunt. In the fourth inning Montgomery hit an RBI double and then she scored on an error.
Both Campbell and North Carolina A&T scored one run in the fifth inning. Montgomery hit an RBI single that brought in
Haley Krebs, who reached base after she singled to left field. A. Williams then hit an RBI single, scoring James who reached base after hitting a double.
In the top of the seventh inning the Camels scored 10 runs. DeSena hit a two RBI double to left field, scoring Cornetto and Parker. Swiney then hit an RBI single to center field that brought in DeSena. Day reached on a fielding error and then Swiney scored on the throw. Krebs then reached on a throwing error, scoring Day. Porter reached base on a fielding error by the shortstop and Krebs scored. Ford hit an RBI sac fly that scored Porter. Desena hit another two RBI double during her second at-bat. For the final run of the game, Swiney hit an RBI single and Cornetto scored.
Joey Barkhimer (3-8) was credited with the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing five hits, five earned runs, five walks and one strikeout.
Emily Dameron (6-1) was credited with the win after pitching 5.0 innings and allowing five hits, one earned run, no walks and one strikeout.
