SNOW HILL, N.C. – With four golfers among the top 12 individuals, Campbell sits on top of the team leader board after Friday's opening round of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate at Cutter Creek GC.
A trio of Camels –
Henric Bjelke,
Logan Graf and
Benjamin Killingstad – are tied for second place at 3-under par (69), while
Joachim Larsen Tegner is tied for 12 at 2-under (70).
The highest ranked team in the field, No. 86 Campbell (277) recorded its best team score to par (-11) of the season and leads Harvard (281) by four strokes and host East Carolina (284) by seven entering Saturday's second round of the 54-hole event.
Jack Boyer of Gardner-Webb is the individual leader after one day at 4-under par. Bjelke, Graf and Killingstad are among 10 golfers at 3-under.
Campbell's
Erik Johansson is tied for 7th (74) and
Douglas Nordlof 83rd (81) in the 90-player field. Instead of the customary five-player lineup, the Cutter Creek event includes six golfers on each squad with the top four scores counting to the team total.
Bjelke opened the day with a triple bogey on the par-4 first hole but was error-free the rest of his round, including six birdies (four in a row on the fourth through seventh holes). Graf posted his lowest round since joining Campbell last summer on a day when he made five birdies. Killingstad had three birdies, two bogeys and an eagle on the par-five 18th hole. Larsen Tegner's day included six birdies.
The 54-hole event continues Saturday and concludes Sunday on the par-72, 7327-yard Cutter Creek layout. Live scoring is available at

The Course: Cutter Creek Golf Course (Par 72, 7327 Yards)
Designed by Bob Moore and opened in 2008, Cutter Creek Golf Club features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. Lake Nina borders the entire length of the ninth and 18th, ending each hole with two of the course's four bulkhead greens.
