Camels win Cutter Creek Intercollegiate

4 Campbell golfers among top 13 individuals

SNOW HILL, N.C. – With four golfers among the top 13 individuals, Campbell won the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate Sunday at Cutter Creek GC.

Henric Bjelke tied for second individually at 7-under par, Benjamin Killingstad tied for fourth (-6), Joachim Larsen Tegner was sixth (-4) and Erik Johansson finished T13 (E) for the Camels, who claimed their first team title since the 2021 Big South Conference Championship.

No. 86 Campbell finished 22-under as a team (277-281-284—842) and registered its lowest 54-hole score of the season while claiming an 8-stroke victory margin over host East Carolina (284-281-285—850) in the 14-team event.

The Camels led the field with 68 birdies and in par-3 scoring (3.01), while finishing second on the par 4 (4.12) and par 5 holes (-17).

Bjelke, who tied for first earlier this month at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, logged his fifth top 10 finish of the season by stringing together 3-straight below par rounds (69-71-69—209).  A senior from Oslo, Norway, Bjelke led the field in par-3 scoring (-5), thanks in part to an ace on Saturday, and tied for third with 15 birdies.  Dating to last spring, he has finished among the top 20 individuals in 10 of his last 13 starts.

A freshman from Blommenholm, Norway, Killingstad (69-70-71—210) matched his collegiate best finish and compiled his best 54-hole score.  Was third in par-5 scoring (-6) and fifth on the par 3 holes (-1).  Larsen Tegner (70-71-71—212) earned his sixth top-10 finish in nine starts this season after making 15 birdies (tied for third) and playing the par-4 holes 1-under (7th).

Johansson (74-69-73—216) collected his sixth top 20 finish in nine outings this year.  Logan Graf finished T27 (69-78-73—220) and Douglas Nordlof 77th (81-79-74—234).  Instead of the customary five-player lineup, the Cutter Creek event includes six golfers on each squad with the top four scores counting to the team total.

William Mitchell of Sandhills CC won individual medalist honors at 10-under (70-69-67—206).  The Camels continue their spring season Apr. 12-13 with the Tar Heel Intercollegiate at Finley GC in Chapel Hill.

The victory was the 62nd men's tournament coaching win (and 162 men's and women's total) for Campbell head coach John Crooks, who is in his 35th in charge of the men's program and 34th as head coach of the Campbell women.
