Campbell hosts Charleston and William & Mary

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Winners of eight of its last nine, Campbell wraps up the regular season by hosting Charleston on Thursday night and William & Mary on Saturday afternoon. Both games will be on FloCollege. Admission is free for all kids 12 and under.

Heroes & Hoops vs. Charleston - Thursday at 7 PM

  • Thursday's game against Charleston will be our Heroes & Hoops night
  • First responders are encouraged to present their ID or badge at the ticket office to claim $5 tickets

Senior Day and Harnett County Free Admission vs. William & Mary - Saturday at 2 PM

  • Campbell will honor seniors Courtney Dahlquist and Audrey Fuller along with student managers Maddox Capps and Gracie Jonas for Senior Day
  • Admission is free for all Harnett County residents 

A PROGRAM BUILT ON DEFENSE

  • Campbell is the only program in the nation to be ranked in the top-25 in scoring defense in each of the past eight seasons
  • In the Ronny Fisher era (since 2016-17) Campbell has held 42 opponents to 40 points or less and 109 opponents to 50 points or less
  • This season Campbell ranks:
    • 52nd nationally and 4th in the CAA in scoring defense (58.0 PPG allowed)
    • 105th nationally and 5th in the CAA in field goal percentage defense (39.2%)
    • 18th nationally and 3rd in the CAA giving up just 13.6 fouls per game
  • Last season Campbell ranked:
    • 8th nationally and 1st in the CAA in scoring defense (55.1 PPG allowed)
    • 31st nationally in field goal percentage defense (37.1%)
    • 10th nationally in three-point percentage defense (26.5%)
    • 23rd nationally giving up only 13.8 fouls per game

LAST TIME OUT

  • Campbell came from behind in the fourth quarter for a second straight outing, defeating Drexel 56-52 Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia
  • After trailing by six with 8:20 to go, six different Camels scored as part of a 13-3 run to close out the game
  • Audrey Fuller gave the Camels their first lead since 6:16 in the second quarter on a three that rattled in.
  • Gianni Boone, who scored the first 12 points of the game for the Camels, added insurance with a jumper in the paint with eight seconds to go while Courtney Dahlquist put the game out of reach with a pair of free throws with three seconds left

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

  • Winners of six-straight, Charleston enters 21-6 overall and 12-4 in CAA play
  • Taryn Barbot leads the Cougars averaging 15.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals
  • Charleston is led by head coach Robin Harmony in her sixth season at the helm
  • William & Mary is 11-16 overall and 8-8 in CAA play. The Tribe head to NC A&T on Thursday before taking on the Camels on Saturday
  • Bella Nascimento leads the Tribe averaging 16.2 points
  • Erin Dickerson Davis leads William & Mary in her third season as head coach

SERIES HISTORY

  • Campbell leads the all-time series against Charleston, 12-10
  • The Cougars have won three-straight in the series, including a 78-63 victory over the Camels on Jan. 5 this season
  • Campbell's last win in the series came in 2018, a 66-65 win in Buies Creek
  • Campbell and William & Mary are tied in the all-time series, 2-2
  • CU has defeated the Tribe in both CAA games from last season and earlier this season. The Camels scored 92 points to claim its first road win of the season up at W&M 

DOUBLE BYE FOR CAA TOURNEY

  • Campbell clinched a double-bye for the CAA Tournament next week. The Camels will play its first game in the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 14
  • The Camels rank fourth in the CAA with an 11-5 conference record and own the tiebreaker over fifth-place Monmouth due to its head-to-head win over the Hawks earlier this season

TUCKER NAMED CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

  • Campbell freshman guard Olivia Tucker was named CAA Rookie of the Week on Mar. 3
  • Tucker averaged 10.5 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field and from three, along with 2.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals
  • The former CAA Player of the Week (Nov. 25) led all scorers with 16 points and added a career-high five steals in the Camels comeback win at Towson
  • Tucker scored or assisted on the final eight points of the game, including scoring the go-ahead three pointer
  • She ended her week with five points, three rebounds and one steal in Campbell's win at Drexel

CARDIAC CAMELS

  • Campbell has two double-digit fourth quarter comeback wins this season and four fourth-quarter comebacks by five points or more this season
  • The Camels trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half and erased a 13-point deficit to start the fourth quarter in a 71-67 overtime win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 27
  • Campbell erased a 13-point deficit with 6:13 remaining to defeat Towson on Feb. 28
  • Both wins are tied for the second-largest 4Q comeback in program history (15 pts at High Point, 2019-20)

  • Campbell has surpassed both its CAA win total (9) and overall win total (17) from last season
  • Five of Campbell's 10 CAA wins have been by 20 or more points including a 30-point win over Hampton and a 40-point win over Northeastern

MULTIPLE 20-PLUS SCORERS

  • Four different Camels - Olivia Tucker, Courtney Dahlquist, Gianni Boone and Ciara Alexander - have scored 20 points or more this season
  • Tucker dropped 20-plus points in back-to-back games, scoring 24 (the most by a Camel this season) against ETSU while scoring 20 at Miami
  • Dahlquist dropped 20+ points in consecutive games during CAA play, scoring a career-high 21 points against Stony Brook and pouring in 20 points behind a career-best 6 three-pointers
  • The team's leading scorer, Gianni Boone has three 20-point outings this season
  • Boone has scored 21 points against Western Carolina and Stony Brook and dropped 20 points and added 10 boards against UNCW. Boone has scored in double-figures 15 times overall
  • Boone and Dahlquist became the first CU duo to each have 20 or more points in a game since Shy Tuelle (21) and Caroline Bowns (20) accomplished the feat against Hampton on March 14, 2019
  • Alexander became the latest Camel to score 20 points in a game, notching a career-best 20 points in 24 minutes off the bench against Northeastern. A freshman, Alexander made 7-of-11 field goals and went 6-of-7 from the charity stripe

FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Campbell boasts one of the best trio of freshmen in the CAA in Olivia Tucker, Jasmine Felton and Ciara Alexander this season with all three earning CAA weekly honors multiple times
  • Olivia Tucker is one of the top scoring options for the Camels off the bench, averaging 8.4 points per game on the season
  • Tucker was named CAA Player of the Week after scoring 20+ points in consecutive games against ETSU (24) and Miami (20). The Durham, N.C. native has also earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors once this season as well
  • Jasmine Felton is a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week, averaging 8.5 points, a team-high 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals all while shooting a team-best 52.7 percent from the field
  • Ciara Alexander ranks 3rd on the team averaging 8.9 points along with 4.5 boards - all while playing just 15.5 minutes off the bench
  • Alexander has scored in double-figures in nine of 16 CAA games and has been named CAA Rookie of the Week twice

THAT'S OUR POINT GUARD

  • Gemma Nunez ranks 5th nationally and 1st in the CAA averaging 6.3 assists overall and 34th nationally/1st in the CAA with a 2.29 assist/turnover ratio
  • Additionally, Nunez ranks 76th nationally/2nd in the CAA averaging 2.3 steals per game
  • Nunez has dished out 10+ assists four times this season
  • Nunez posted a career-high 12 assists, including nine in the first half, at Stony Brook
  • She followed that up by recording her first career double-double with 11 pts and 11 assists against Monmouth
  • Nunez also opened up CAA play dealing 9 assists at both UNCW and Charleston and dished out 9 assists against William & Mary
  • The Spaniard was named CAA Player of the Week (Feb. 9) after leading the Camels to wins over Northeastern and NC A&T

FELTON ONE OF THE BEST FROM TWO

  • Freshman guard Jasmine Felton is shooting 66.5 percent from two (74-of-113), ranking in the top 15 nationally

DAHLQUIST FROM DEEP

  • Senior forward Courtney Dahlquist ranks 4th in the CAA shooting 36.2 percent from behind the arc
  • Her 50 threes this season ranks 5th in the CAA
  • Dahlquist scored a career-best 21 points in 27 minutes, connecting on 5-of-8 threes at Stony Brook
  • She followed up that game with another 20 point outing against Monmouth, making a career-high 6 three-pointers

HOMEGROWN TALENT

  • Campbell enters the 2024-25 season as one of six D-I programs without a transfer (from any level) on its roster for a second-straight season (Air Force, Brown, Cornell, Princeton, South Dakota St.)

HEAD COACH RONNY FISHER

  • A three-time Big South Coach of the Year, Ronny Fisher enters his ninth season at the helm of Campbell women's basketball and 17th as a head coach overall
  • Over the previous eight seasons, Campbell has won 152 games for an average of 19 wins per season (152-90)
  • Fisher enters the 2024-25 season with 249 career wins (249-234), which ranks 2nd most amongst active CAA coaches trailing only Charleston's Robin Harmony with 317 wins (317-183)
  • Under Fisher, the Camels claimed the 2019-20 and 2021-22 Big South regular season titles and finished as Big South tournament runners-up in 2019, 2021 and 2022
  • Fisher has also led Campbell to its first-ever WNIT berth in 2021-22 along with two other postseason appearances in the WBI. He helped the Camels claim their first ever postseason win in the 2019 WBI
