BUIES CREEK, N.C. – With a No. 88 national ranking, Campbell will be the third seed when the Fighting Camels open play Sunday in the Coastal Athletic Association men's golf championship at Union League National Golf Club in Swainton, N.J.
The Camels will be paired with No. 58 Charleston and No. 75 Elon for Sunday's first round and start from the first tee on the Grant Course at 11:00 a.m. The 54-hole stroke play event continues Saturday and concludes Sunday to determine the CAA's automatic bid in the NCAA regional championships (May 12-14).

At No. 321 nationally, Larsen Tegner is the seventh highest-ranked individual among CAA golfers. Bjelke is the ninth-highest rated CAA player at No. 374. Johansson is No. 528 in the country, while Killigstad (680) is the highest-ranked freshman in the CAA.
Through 10 events this season, Campbell has recorded four top 3 finishes, including a win last month at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate. The Camels have amassed a 90-37-1 (.707) head-to-head record and 286.2 adjusted scoring average.
Last season, Campbell finished fourth in its inaugural trip to the CAA Championship. Three Camels who finished among the top 20 at the 2024 tournament at Dataw Island, S.C. return to this year's lineup.
Joachim Larsen Tegner finished 8th (70-73-69—212),
Erik Johansson placed T10 (68-72-74—214) and
Henric Bjelke 18th (70-68-78—216). Charleston (829) won the 2024 team title, seven shots ahead of Elon (836).
Four of the top five individuals from last year's CAA championship return, including co-champ Kieron van Wyk of Charleston (66-69-68—203), Elon's Garrett Risner (69-69-66—204) and Jack Wieler (68-68-71—207) and Gray Mitchum of UNCW (66-71-70—207).

The Course: Union League National Golf Club (Par 72, 7274 Yards)
The backbone of this super-maximalist design from Dana Fry and Jason Straka in the South New Jersey cape are a pair of constructed 40-foot-high central ridges that half of the complex's 27 holes scramble up and down. The design is a head-spinning presentation of three different nines that show off electrified putting surfaces stuffed with all manner of tiers, baubles and side slopes, big sandy dunes, scrubby barrens, cavernous bunkers, a section on the north end that mimics holes forged from a quarry and a kaleidoscope of native New Jersey vegetation. The new Union League National earned second-place honors in the 2022 Golf Digest Best New private award.
The Coach: Now in his 35th year in charge of the Campbell men's golf program and 34th as head coach of the CU women,
John Crooks has been named league coach of the year 23 times in his tenure. His teams have combined to earn 36 NCAA post-season trips, including 15 consecutive team and individual invitations. His teams have won 162 tournaments and with 100 career tournament titles, Crooks trails only Dan Brooks of Duke (143) on the all-time coaching victories list among Division I women's coaches. Inducted into the Campbell Athletics Hall of Fame on Jan. 18, no other coach on the Division I level has won more combined men's and women's tournaments than Crooks. He has guided his teams to 27 league titles, including 19 on the women's side and eight in men's competition.

Joachim Larsen Tegner (Lier, Norway) owns a team-leading 72.0 stroke average this season and is Campbell's highest-ranked player (No. 321). He has finished among the top 12 individuals in seven of 10 events, including a season-best 6th-place finish at Cutter Creek (70-71-71—212). He finished 7th at Daytona Beach (76-71-74—221) and posted 8th-place showings at Myrtle Beach (71-69-71—211), Georgetown (68-73-78—219) and the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate (74-68—142). Larsen Tegner fired a collegiate low 5-under 66 in the final round of the Furman Intercollegiate and has played par, or better, golf 15 times in 29 rounds. He has compiled nine career top 10 finishes (6 this season) in 21 starts.

Henric Bjelke (Oslo, Norway) has compiled five top 10 finishes in 10 starts this season and is ranked No. 374 among Division I men's golfers. He owns a 72.6 scoring average and has played par, or better, golf in 14 of 29 rounds. Dating to last spring, he has finished among the top 20 individuals in 10 of his last 14 starts. He was named CAA golfer of the week for the 3rd time this season on Apr. 2 after finishing as runner-up at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate (69-71-69—209). Bjelke earned his first career win at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, where he tied for first (72-66—138) and recorded a collegiate low 4-under 66 in the final round. Bjelke opened the season with a 5-under 211 (69-71-71) to finish T8 at Myrtle Beach. He also had a T6 showing at the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational.

Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) has posted six top 20 showings in 10 tournaments this season and is ranked No. 528 nationally. He produced a T13 finish (74-69-73—216) at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate. Johansson earned his best finish (6th) of the year at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate (71-74-75—220). Named CAA golfer of the week March 5, the 2024 CAA rookie of the year and NCAA Chapel Hill Regional participant has compiled a 72.9 scoring average with nine rounds of par, or better, golf. He finished T10 in the Georgetown Intercollegiate and also had top-20 efforts at Myrtle Beach (T16), Palmetto (T18) and Nemacolin (T20).

Freshman
Benjamin Killingstad (Blommenholm, Norway) has competed in all 10 events this season. He posted a 4th-place finish at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate (69-70-71—210) and owns a 73.5 stroke average. Killingstad opened the year with an even-par finish at Myrtle Beach (71-70-75—216) and led the team with a fourth place showing at the Georgetown event (68-72-76—216), where he fired a collegiate low, 3-under 68 in the opening round. Killingstad has played par, or better, golf 9 times in 29 rounds. At No. 680, he is the highest-ranked freshman among all CAA men's golfers.

Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta) posted a top-20 (T18) finish in his first event representing Campbell (71-72-71—214) in the Battle at Briar's Creek and was CU's low individual. He finished T27 (69-78-73—220) at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate and T55 (76-72-23—221) at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. Graf has compiled a 75.0 scoring average over 12 rounds this season. He joined the Camel roster last summer after playing in 15 events, including the 2023 MAC Championship, over two seasons at Eastern Michigan.

Douglas Nordlof (Saltsjobaden, Sweden) will travel to the CAA Championship as an alternate/substitute. He produced his best finish (T10) in 3 seasons at Campbell at the Georgetown Intercollegiate (71-73-76—220). He matched his best 18-hole score at Campbell (70) in the final round of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate as well as at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. Nordlof has compiled a 75.1 scoring average over seven events in the '24-25 campaign.
