Wrestling heads to Cedar Falls for NWCA National Duals

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell wrestling team travels to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for its final multi-team tournament of the regular season at the NWCA National Duals on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 9–10, hosted by Northern Iowa. The bracketed, dual-format event features teams from across the region, with the Camels set to face several of the nation's top mid-major programs.

Campbell will compete in Pool A and open the tournament Friday against Central Michigan at 3 p.m. The Camels will conclude Friday's action with a dual against Harvard at 7 p.m. Saturday's slate begins at 10 a.m. with a rematch against South Dakota State before Campbell closes the tournament against Northern Illinois at noon.

In the latest NWCA Coaches Poll, Central Michigan is receiving votes, while South Dakota State is ranked No. 8. South Dakota State finished as the runner-up at last year's National Duals.

The event will be held at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The tournament will stream live on FloWrestling, with brackets, live results and additional information also available on TrackWrestling. More information about the tournament can be found on the NWCA's website

Hodge posted a 4-2 mark, rebounding from an opening-round loss with four consecutive victories, including a major decision and a sudden-victory win, before his run ended in the consolation round of eight.

PRESEASON TALK

Campbell was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Camels enter their first season under head coach TJ Dudley, a three-time All-American who was promoted after serving as a Campbell assistant. Dudley takes over a program that went 7-1 in SoCon duals last season, earning wins over Gardner-Webb, Chattanooga, Davidson, Bellarmine, Presbyterian, VMI and Appalachian State.
