BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team heads to Auburn, Ala. for its first road matchups of the season. The Camels will participate in the War Eagle Classic, facing off against Illinois, Binghamton and the host, Auburn from Feb. 13-15.
The Camels will play Illinois and Auburn on Friday, and then Illinois and Binghamton on Saturday before closing the weekend with a rematch against Auburn on Sunday. The Camels open the event at 3 p.m. Friday against Illinois.
Live stats will be available for all games. Fans can watch Campbell's games Friday and Sunday against Auburn on the ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT (ILLINOIS)
Illinois went 0-5 on opening weekend at the Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Fighting Illini suffered losses to Lamar, Nevada, NC State and host nationally ranked LSU. Illinois is led by head coach Tyra Perry, who is in her 25th season and sits five wins shy of 700 career victories. Only 35 active Division I coaches (out of 306) have reached the milestone.
Adisyn Caryl, Eileen Donahue and Megan Nuechterlein were named 2026 Big Ten Softball Players to Watch. Donahue, a junior infielder, posted the team's top batting average in 2025 (.331) and led the Illini with 35 RBIs. Defensively, she paced Illinois with 270 putouts and helped turn six double plays.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT (AUBURN)
Auburn enters the weekend at 4-2 after earning wins over Notre Dame, Michigan State, Penn State and a 10-5 victory over nationally ranked Clemson at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Junior catcher Kylie Brockman carries a five-game hitting streak and is tied for the team lead in hits (nine) with sophomore Kylie Shaw and freshman Haven Roebuck. The trio ranked third in the SEC in hits over opening weekend.
Auburn is led by co-head coaches Chris and Kate Malveaux, who guided the Tigers to a 35-24 record and their 11th
consecutive NCAA Regional appearance last season. Prior to Auburn, both served as assistant coaches at Tennessee. Auburn is receiving votes in the NFCA and USA Softball polls.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT (BINGHAMTON)
Binghamton enters the weekend at 1-4 following opening play at the South Carolina Tournament. The Bearcats opened the season with a win over Syracuse before dropping four straight games to Syracuse, nationally ranked Virginia Tech and South Carolina.
In 2025, Binghamton posted a 36-14 overall record and went 16-2 in America East play. The Bearcats won the America East title and earned an NCAA Regional berth in Oregon.
Senior pitcher Brianna Roberts was named America East Softball Pitcher of the Week, while senior first baseman Emma Lawson earned conference Player of the Week honors. Binghamton is ranked No. 22 in the D1Softball.com Mid-Major Poll.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second all-time meeting between Campbell and Illinois. The first matchup came at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on March 15, 2002, with the Camels earning a 1-0 victory.
This will also be the second meeting between Campbell and Auburn. In the lone previous matchup, Auburn hosted the Camels at Jane B. Moore Field on Feb. 18, 2011, and Campbell fell, 3-1.
Campbell will meet Binghamton for the second time in program history as well. The first meeting occurred Feb. 14, 2015, at the Georgia Southern Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia. The Bearcats won that contest, 9-8.
OFF TO THE RACES
After a perfect 5-0 opening weekend, the Camels matched the best start to a season in program history, also achieved in 2013.
With 51 runs scored through the first five games, Campbell posted the highest total over that span in program history. The mark is tied for eighth nationally in total runs scored.
Charlie Montgomery was named CAA Co-Player of the Week following her performance at the Campbell Stampede. Montgomery slashed .643/.688/.857 over five games, going 9-for-14 with a double, a triple, six RBIs and three stolen bases.
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Campbell had a league-high four players named to the Preseason All-CAA team:
Hannah Cornetto,
Amber DeSena,
Charlie Montgomery and
Allyiah Swiney. The Camels also added two honorable mentions,
Alyssa Armijo and
Madison Ford, tying for the league high. Campbell's six total Preseason All-CAA selections are the most among all CAA teams.

Campbell welcomes nine newcomers for the 2026 season. The group includes six transfers and three freshmen. Freshmen
