Camels set for midweek contest against ECU

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball is set for its first midweek contest of the 2026 season as it welcomes East Carolina to Jim Perry Stadium on Tuesday night. First pitch of the contest is slated for 5 p.m. and it will be streamed on FloCollege.

LAST TIME OUT 
  • Campbell opened up the 2026 campaign with a 5-2 win over Cal Poly in game one of the series before dropping the final two on Saturday in a doubleheader. 
  • Jonah Oster led the offense going 5-for-9 on the weekend with a triple and two runs scored. Oster drew a pair of walks and drove in a run in the three-game set. 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Campbell and ECU meet for the 86th time in program history 
  • The Pirates lead the overall series, 56-29
  • Campbell has won the last five matchups between the two programs
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • East Carolina opened their 2026 dropping its series to Xavier. This was the first time the Pirates had lost their opening home weekend since 2022, when Bryant swept ECU.
  • The Pirates offense is hitting a combined .265 including five players batting over .300. 
  • Braden Burress paces the offense with a .462 average in three games. He collected a team-high six hits and four runs scored against Xavier. 
  • ECU is coming off of a 35-27 overall record and a berth to the NCAA Regionals after claiming the American Conference Tournament Championship. The Pirates were voted on as the American Conference favorites for the 2026 season.
CAA PITCHER OF THE WEEK 
  • Left-hander Lleyton Grubich earned his first CAA Pitcher of the Week honors as announced by the conference on Monday. 
  • Grubich picked up the win on Friday night in Campbell's 5-2 win over Cal Poly 
  • The junior limited Cal Poly to one run on five hits over 5.2 innings of work and retired the first eight batters he faced. He shut out the Mustangs over the first five frames and issued just one walk in the outing.

  • Be the 30th win over East Carolina
  • Be the 6th consecutive win over the Pirates

CAROLINA ON MY MIND
  • Of the 55 games on the schedule, Campbell will stay in the state of North Carolina for 42 of those games. 
  • The Camels will compete against 11 of the 17 Division I opponents from North Carolina. 
YEAR TWO AT THE HELM
  • Chris Marx enters his second season at the helm of Campbell baseball. 
  • Marx led the Camels with ninth toughest non-conference strength of schedule last season. 
  • He led the squad to a 25-31 overall record and 15-12 conference record along with the Camels first appearance in the CAA tournament.
CAMEL STRONG
  • Campbell comes into the season with one of the toughest non-conference strengths of schedule in the country. 
  • The schedule features seven opponents that went to postseason play last year including College World Series Runner-up Coastal Carolina and Super Regional hosts Duke and North Carolina. 
  • The Camels will face 12 opponents that finished last season in the top-100 in RPI.
  • Campbell will square off against five conference or conference tournament champions from a season ago including Cal Poly, East Carolina Wright State, Coastal Carolina, and North Carolina.
