Swiney named CAA Player of the Week

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Senior outfielder Allyiah Swiney was named CAA Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Swiney made a statement against top teams at the War Eagle Classic, posting a .571/.625/.929 slash line in four games. The senior went 8-for-14 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored and six RBIs. After going 2-for-5 with a double on Friday, Swiney broke out on Saturday.

In Campbell's first game against Illinois, the Hamlet, N.C., native went 3-for-5 with a two-run blast to open the scoring in a 5-0 shutout. The Camels' outfielder followed with a 3-for-4 performance against Binghamton, including an RBI single in the second inning. After the Bearcats took the lead, Swiney delivered the decisive blow with a bases-clearing, three-run double in the sixth inning to put the Camels back in front for good. On the day, she went 6-for-9 with six RBIs, 10 total bases and three runs scored.

The honor comes after Swiney was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team and marks the first weekly CAA award of her career.

It is the second time since joining the CAA that the Camels have earned back-to-back Player of the Week honors. The first came in 2024 with Alyssa Henault (March 25) and Mariana Rodriguez (April 1).

Charleston sophomore Mackenzie Mathis was named CAA Pitcher of the Week, while Charleston outfielder Bronwyn Conroy and UNCW pitcher Camile Hamilton earned Co-CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

Swiney and the Camels will compete this weekend at the Campbell Invitational from Feb. 20-22. Campbell opens the tournament against Iowa at 4 p.m. on Feb. 20.
