Camels set for midweek clash at No.9 Coastal Carolina

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball is set for a midweek clash against ninth-ranked Coastal Carolina at Springs Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.

LAST TIME OUT 
  • Campbell dropped its second weekend series of the season, this time at Troy as the Camels fell to 3-4. 
  • Campbell fell in the first game 13-3 in seven innings before dropping the final game 8-4 in Sunday's doubleheader at Riddle-Pace Field. 
  • The Camels offense exploded in game two of the series as they went on to win, 13-1 (7).The squad collected a season high 13 hits while scoring a season-high 13 runs. 
  • Andy Schuldt and Carlos Lugo led the offense in the series going 5-for-10 with an extra-base hit. Lugo added a pair of RBIs while Schuldt drove in one. The pair each scored two runs in the series and Schuldt added two walks.

  • Campbell and Coastal Carolina meet for the 62nd time in program history. 
  • The Camels are looking for its eighth all-time win in Conway. 
  • The last time the Campbell beat the Chanticleers was April 10, 2023 in Buies Creek. 
  • Campbell last beat CCU in Conway was May 6, 2012 win the Camels won 2-1.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT 
  • Coastal Carolina is now ranked ninth in the country according to D1 Baseball after coming off a national runner-up appearance at the College World Series. 
  • The Chanticleers come into the midweek 5-2 overall after picking up a pair of wins over VCU and dropping a matchup with Illinois (14-5). 
  • Dean Mihos leads the offense with a .407 batting average including 11 hits, two doubles, a home run, and seven runs batted in. 
  • Rex Watson and Trace Mazon are also hitting above .300 as Mazon leads the team with eight runs driven in and ties for the team lead two home runs. 
  • Case Bosch will get the start on the mound and leads the team with a 0.00 ERA in two appearances. The left-handed pitcher has worked 7.2 innings allowing just two hits, two walks, and has picked up nine strikeouts.

  • Chris Marx enters his second season at the helm of Campbell baseball. 
  • Marx led the Camels with ninth toughest non-conference strength of schedule last season. 
  •  He led the squad to a 25-31 overall record and 15-12 conference record along with the Camels first appearance in the CAA tournament.
