BUIES CREEK — Freshman outfielder Carlos Lugo was tabbed CAA baseball Rookie of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. 

Lugo led the Camels offensively during its 2-2 week against Charlotte and series win over North Carolina A&T. The freshman led with a team-high .588 average tallying 10 hits in 17 at-bats on the week including two for extra bases. He also registered two RBI, two walks, and a team-high eight runs scored. 

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native collected a multi-hit performance in each contest this week including going 3-for-4 with a double, homer, two RBI's and three runs in a 10-0 win over North Carolina A&T last Saturday and 3-for-5 against Charlotte. He now leads the Camels with seven multi-hit performances on the season. 

Lugo opened the scoring in game two of the series with NC A&T launching his first collegiate homer which would be all the Camels would need to secure the victory, 10-0 (7). The freshman is now second on the team with a .345 batting average and has collected 20 hits on the squad.
