BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team travels to Columbus, Ohio, for its final regular-season tournament of 2026, the Ohio State Tournament.
The Camels will face Louisville and host Ohio State twice each over the weekend. Campbell meets Ohio State on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m., and Louisville on Friday at noon and Sunday at 10 a.m.
Live stats will be available for all four games. Friday and Saturday's games against Ohio State will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT (LOUISVILLE)
Louisville enters at 21-7 overall and 3-3 in ACC play. The Cardinals carry a two-game winning streak, defeating Clemson to close a weekend series and adding a midweek win over Western Kentucky. Louisville is 10-0 at neutral sites this season.
In 2025, Louisville finished 26-25 and ranked among the ACC's most aggressive offensive teams, leading the conference in sacrifice bunts while totaling 24 triples and 90 stolen bases. The Cardinals were eliminated in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
Head coach Holly Aprile is in her eighth season, earning ACC Coach of the Year honors in 2018 and totaling more than 180 wins at Louisville.
Senior Chelsea Mack leads the Cardinals with a .489 batting average, recording 45 hits in 92 at-bats with 29 runs scored, 23 stolen bases and 16 RBIs. Her 23 stolen bases rank first in the ACC and second nationally. Freshman Jayden Gohs anchors the pitching staff with a 3.11 ERA and three wins in 27 innings pitched, allowing 12 earned runs with 16 strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT (OHIO STATE)
Ohio State enters with an 8-16 overall record and a 2-4 mark in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes are 2-2 at home this season. Ohio State has dropped four straight games, including a loss to Western Michigan and a series sweep by Purdue.
In 2025, the Buckeyes went 45-14-1 with a 16-6 record in the Big Ten. Ohio State led the nation in home runs (147) and runs scored (495) and became the first team in NCAA history to have four players hit 20 or more home runs in a single season.
The Buckeyes fell in the Big Ten Tournament but earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, recording wins over North Carolina and Miami (Ohio) before being eliminated by Tennessee.
Head coach Kirin Kumar is in her second season leading the program and 20th overall as a head coach. She previously earned two MAC Coach of the Year honors at Miami (Ohio).
Sophomore infielder Abbie Wilhelm leads the offense with a .384 batting average and a .494 on-base percentage. Freshman Jenna Molk has five of Ohio State's eight wins in the circle, posting 50 strikeouts with a 4.22 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY
This marks the second all-time meeting between Campbell and Louisville. The only previous matchup came Feb. 25, 2000, at the Pirate Softball Classic in Greenville, North Carolina, with Louisville earning a 7-0 shutout.
Ohio State leads the all-time series 3-1. The most recent meeting came in the 2022 NCAA Tournament (Knoxville Regional), where the Buckeyes won 10-0 in six innings. Campbell's lone win came March 27, 1999, at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta, a 9-5 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
Campbell dropped its weekend series against Charleston after winning the opener Friday night.
The Camels opened with a six-inning run-rule victory.
Katelyn Hubley earned her eighth career win, striking out five while throwing 56 strikes on 96 pitches. Campbell scored 10 runs on 10 hits.
Allyiah Swiney and
Kylie Specht each homered, marking Campbell's first multi-home run game since April 13, 2025. Three players recorded multiple hits and RBIs.
Amber DeSena went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Specht finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Madison Ford led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, adding a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Campbell struck out just twice, with six of its 10 runs coming with two outs.
The Camels closed the weekend with back-to-back one-run losses.
On Saturday,
Haley Krebs went 3 for 3, while
Alyssa Armijo finished 2 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored, a hit by pitch and a stolen base.
Kasey Wolfe and
Emily Allegood combined for four strikeouts in the circle.
On Sunday, Swiney went 2 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. Slutzah added a 2-for-4 performance with a run and two RBIs. Allegood started in the circle before Hubley closed, recording three strikeouts.

PUTTING THE LEAGUE ON NOTICE
Charlie Montgomery was named CAA Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 10 following her performance during the Camels' opening weekend. Montgomery slashed .643/.688/.857 in five games at the Campbell Stampede.
Allyiah Swiney earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17 after a standout showing at the War Eagle Classic. Swiney posted a .571/.625/.929 slash line in four games against top competition.
Katelyn Hubley was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on March 3 for her performance at the Battle at the Max tournament. Hubley made two starts, earning two wins with nine strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed over 12 innings for a 1.17 ERA.
Montgomery and Swiney's honors marked the second time since joining the CAA that the Camels have claimed back-to-back Player of the Week honors. The first instance came in 2024 with Alyssa Henault (March 25) and Mariana Rodriguez (April 1).
PRESEASON RECOGNITION
Campbell had a league-high four players named to the Preseason All-CAA team:
Hannah Cornetto,
Amber DeSena,
Charlie Montgomery and
Allyiah Swiney. The Camels also added two honorable mentions,
Alyssa Armijo and
Madison Ford, tying for the league high. Campbell's six total Preseason All-CAA selections are the most among all CAA teams.
