Camels host Pirates and Seawolves in final weekend

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell concludes its regular season campaign with visits from Hampton on Thursday night and Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon. This is the final preparation before the 2026 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship, where seeds two through seven are still in play for the Camels depending on these final two results.

Last Time Out: Campbell completed a 10-point fourth quarter comeback to defeat league-leading Charleston, 59-57, on Sunday. Jasmine Nivar converted a steal into a fastbreak layup to put the Camels ahead with 19 seconds remaining. Campbell held the Cougars without a field goal for the final 7:55 of the game.
 
In the Rankings: Campbell ranks 218 in the NET and 232 in Bart Torvik's rankings. Hampton is ranked 308 and 326, while Stony Brook sits at 237 and 252.
 
Scouting the Opponents: The Pirates ended a seven-game losing streak with a 77-71 win over Northeastern on Sunday. Kiki McElrath has started all 28 games and leads the Pirates with 13.2 points per contest. Kayla Lezama has played every game as well while averaging 12.9 points per game.
 
SBU faces Charleston on Thursday before the regular season ends in Buies Creek. The Seawolves sit one game ahead of Campbell in the CAA standings, and the outcome will have important implications in the seeding of the CAA Championship. Janay Brantley and Diaka Berete are each averaging double figures, and Stony Brook sits third in the CAA in scoring defense, allowing an average of 0.6 more points per game than the Camels.
 
Series History: Campbell is 8-2 against Hampton with a 15-point win earlier this year.
 
This is the first matchup of the year between the two teams, and the Seawolves hold a 3-2 overall advantage in the series history.
 
Stifling the Conference: The Camels are allowing 54.9 points and 35% shooting in CAA play.
 
One of the best in the country: Jasmine Nivar has won the CAA Rookie of the Week award seven times. She is one of four players in the NCAA to win their conference's freshman of the week award seven or more times (Aaliyah Chavez, Oklahoma; Blanca Quiñonez UCONN; Uche Izoje, Syracuse).
 
The chase for 1K: Gianni Boone eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career, doing so against Monmouth. She is the 22nd player in program history to accomplish the feat and the first since Luana Serranho in 2022.
 
Second Quarter Defense: CU is allowing 12.5 points in second quarters, including lows of 0 to Virginia-Lynchburg, 2 to Grambling State, and 4 to both Western Carolina and Carolina University. 16 of 29 opponents have scored less than 13 points against the Camels in the second frame.
 
The Camels are one of four teams to hold an opponent to 0 points in a quarter this season (CSUN, UCLA, Ohio State). Campbell is the only D1 team to hold five opponents to less than 5 points in any quarter.
 
Leading the Conference: CU leads the CAA in blocks per game (5.0), FG% defense (36.1) and scoring defense (56.3).
 
The squad is top 5 in the CAA in offensive rebounds per game, scoring margin and 3PT percentage.
 
N'na Konate is third in total blocks and fourth in blocks per game.
 
Jasmine Nivar is fourth in steals per game.
 
Olivia Tucker is third in three point attempts and fourth in three pointers per game.
 
The Camels are top 25 in the NCAA in blocks per game (24th), FG% defense (16th) and scoring defense (16th).
 
National Nivar: Jasmine Nivar was named to the Tamika Catchings Award preseason watch list by the USBWA. She is one of 20 student athletes on the list and just one of two from a mid-major program.  
 
Preseason Accolades: Senior Gianni Boone was named to the preseason All-CAA First Team. The Camels, who finished last year as the CAA runner-up, were picked to finish fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.
 
Decade under Fisher: Head Coach Ronny Fisher enters his 10th season at the helm in Buies Creek. He has amassed a 192-114 record and has twice led Campbell to a program record 23 wins in a season.
