Camels host NC A&T for final home series

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball hosts North Carolina A&T for its final home series of the season beginning on Friday, May 1 at Jim Perry Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on FloCollege.

  • Campbell secured a thrilling 5-4 win over in-state foe High Point on Tuesday night. 
  • The Camels went back and forth with the Camels but Carlos Lugo delivered an RBI double in the eighth to put the Camels in front for good. 
  • Jett Music picked up his first win of the season in relief tossing 2.0 innings allowing just one hit and picking up two strikeouts.

CUE THE MUSIC
  • Sophomore Jett Music earns his first weekly honor of the season after batting .545 (6-11) with four homers, seven runs and seven RBI's in Campbell's 4-0 week capped by a CAA sweep at Charleston. He hit .667 (6-9) and went deep in each game at Charleston, going 2-for-2 with a HR and 3 RBI's on Friday and 3-for-3 with a pair of solo shots on Saturday before homering with 2 RBI's on Sunday. Music walked four times to finish with a .786 on base percentage while slugging 2.000.
ANOTHER ONE FOR THE ROOKIE
  • Freshman outfielder Carlos Lugo earns his third CAA weekly award of the season after batting .550 (11-20) with two doubles, two homers, six runs and six RBI's in Campbell's 4-0 week. The freshman had multiple hits in each contest, starting with a 3-for-5 effort vs. Charlotte. He was 4-for-4 with a grand slam in the opener at Charleston, had two hits with a solo shot on Saturday and went 2-for-5 with two runs on Sunday. Lugo, who slugged .950, pushed his hitting streak to eight games.
SENIOR SUNDAY CENTURY MARK
  • Four right-handed pitchers including David Rossow, Zach Sabers, Mason Smith and Caleb White eclipsed the 100 career strikeout mark this season. 
  • Rossow picked up his 100th career strikeout at William & Mary on Friday while Sabers picked his up at sixth-ranked North Carolina, Smith secured his against UNCW, and White against UNC Charlotte.
