BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Freshman pitcher
Katelyn Hubley was named CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Hubley was dominant in two starts this weekend, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA to lead Campbell to a sweep of CAA foe N.C. A&T. The freshman threw two complete games, recording back-to-back 2-0 shutouts in less than 24 hours. Over 14 innings, she allowed just five hits, with none going for extra bases, and struck out 17 batters. She issued three walks and posted a 0.57 WHIP, holding the opposition to a .104 batting average. Her 10-strikeout performance Friday matched her season high. The Henrico, Virginia, native earned her 11th and 12th wins of the season, which is tied for second in the CAA.
The honor marks the third CAA weekly award of her career. She was named CAA Rookie of the Week on March 31 for her play in Campbell's extra-inning win over Elon. She also earned CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on March 3 for her performance at the Battle at the Max Tournament. It is the fourth weekly CAA award Campbell has received this season. Hubley is the first player on the team to earn three this season and the second in program history to earn multiple CAA Rookie of the Week honors, joining sophomore
Hannah Cornetto.
Hubley shares the honor with Hofstra senior Emma Falen, who also posted two complete-game shutouts and recorded 18 strikeouts over 17 innings. UNCW junior Allison Corbin was named CAA Player of the Week, while Hofstra freshman Ryleigh Smith earned CAA Rookie of the Week.
Hubley and the Camels will face Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
