BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell softball team is set for its lone regular-season series against a CAA North opponent, facing Hofstra.
The Pride enter in first place in the North Division with an eight-game lead. The Camels are part of a three-way battle for first with UNCW and Charleston, with each team owning 10 conference wins.
The teams will play a three-game series beginning Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. first pitch Saturday and a noon start Sunday. All three games will be streamed on FloCollege, with live statistics available.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Hofstra enters the weekend 21-16 overall with a 14-1 mark in CAA play. The Pride's lone conference loss came on the road against Monmouth. They are 6-0 as the host in CAA games.
Susan Cassidy-Lyke is in her first season as head coach of the Pride. She previously spent 20 seasons at Molloy, compiling 577 wins and leading the Lions to eight NCAA Division II tournament appearances. Sophomore shortstop Alanna Morse and senior pitcher Emma Falen were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, with Morse earning honorable mention honors. Morse was an All-CAA second-team selection in 2025.
SERIES HISTORY
The all-time series between Campbell and Hofstra is tied 2-2. The teams met for a three-game series last season in Buies Creek, with Hofstra winning two of three. The first meeting came in the 2024 CAA Tournament, when Campbell eliminated Hofstra with a 1-0, nine-inning victory.
LAST TIME OUT
Campbell fell just short in its final road nonconference matchup of the season, dropping a 1-0 decision to Coastal Carolina on Tuesday night. The Camels collected six hits but were unable to push a runner across.
The infield turned three double plays for the first time since April 1, 2017. The third came on a diving stop by
Livie Davis, who flipped to
Haley Krebs for the force at second before Krebs fired to first to complete the double play and give Campbell a chance in the seventh inning.
Charlie Montgomery was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3.
Ryleigh Bennett took the loss in the circle, striking out three and allowing one earned run over four innings. Junior
Cassiti Baroni closed the game with two innings of relief and one strikeout.
PUTTING THE LEAGUE ON NOTICE
Charlie Montgomery was named CAA Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 10 following her performance during the Camels' opening weekend. Montgomery slashed .643/.688/.857 in five games at the Campbell Stampede.
Allyiah Swiney earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17 after a standout showing at the War Eagle Classic. Swiney posted a .571/.625/.929 slash line in four games against top competition.
Montgomery and Swiney's honors marked the second time since joining the CAA that the Camels have claimed back-to-back Player of the Week honors. The first instance came in 2024 with Alyssa Henault (March 25) and Mariana Rodriguez (April 1).
Katelyn Hubley was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on March 3 for her contributions at the Battle at the Max tournament. Hubley made two starts, earning two wins with nine strikeouts and only two earned runs allowed over 12 innings for a 1.17 ERA.
Hubley earned her second CAA Rookie of the Week nod on March 30. Hubley delivered one of her top performances of the season in Campbell's extra-inning 3-1 victory over Elon on Friday. The Henrico, Va., native tossed all 10 innings and threw 124 pitches in the complete-game victory. The freshman surrendered just one hit and one earned run while striking out eight batters in total, including three in extra innings, to pick up her 10th win of the season.
Hubley earned her third weekly award and first Pitcher of the Week nod on April 6, going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA to lead Campbell to a sweep of CAA foe N.C. A&T. The freshman threw two complete games, recording back-to-back 2-0 shutouts in less than 24 hours. Over 14 innings, she allowed just five hits, with none going for extra bases, and struck out 17 batters.
