Pierce, Ballard qualify for finals on first day of CAA Championships

ELON, NC - Two Camels qualified for three total spots in Saturday's CAA championship during a busy opening day of action. 

Emily Pierce inked her name in the record books yet again, now fourth all-time in the 1500m with a 4:27.74. That time was good for the third fastest of the day, and only .06 seconds behind the leader.  

Amanda Ballard reached the finals in both the 100m and 200m, nabbing the last qualifying spot in each event. Ballard clocked a 11.90 in the 100m, and followed with a 24.36 in the 200m. 

The Camels best finishes in the day's finals came from Craig Costa, taking 7th in the men's 3000m steeplechase. 

The final day of the CAA Outdoor Championships begins tomorrow at 10am.
