Camels square off with Charlotte on Tuesday

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball squares off against Charlotte for the third time this season tomorrow night at Hayes Stadium. 

The two squads have split the two matchups this season as the Niners took game one 13-5 on Mar. 10 and the Camels evened the series up with a 5-4 win in 10 innings on April 21.  

LAST TIME OUT 
  • Campbell clinched the CAA South Division title with the win over North Carolina A&T on Saturday night. 
  • The Camels swept the series over the Aggies and improve to 33-14 overall and 23-4 in CAA play.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Campbell and Charlotte meet for the 34th time since 1979. 
  • The Niners lead the overall series 20-13. 
  • The Camels are 5-11 on the road at Charlotte. 
  • Campbell has won three of the last five matchups. 
  • The Camels secured the win on the road earlier this season 5-4 in ten innings after dropping game one 13-5 in Buies Creek.

CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Redshirt senior Morton earns his first weekly award of the season. Morton batted .467 (7-15) with a double, four homers, five runs and nine RBI's in Campbell's 4-0 week. In the Camels' three-game sweep of North Carolina A&T, the senior was 6-for-11, homered in all three games and drove in nine, including multiple hits and multiple RBI's in each contest. Morton tops the CAA with 15 homers and 55 RBI's.
THE ROOKIE DOES IT AGAIN
  • Freshman Carlos Lugo secures the weekly honor for the fourth time this season. Lugo's fourth weekly honor marks the most in a single season since Thomas Harrington in 2022 after he collected five Big South weekly honors. It is also ties Zach Neto and Matthew Barefoot for the most weekly awards in a rookie season in program history. 
  • Lugo batted .471 (8-17) with three doubles, a triple, five runs and four RBI's on the week. The freshman had multiple hits in three games and scored in all four. In the series sweep of the Aggies, he hit .500 with three extra-base hits while driving in three. Lugo, who is riding a 12-game hitting streak, also threw a scoreless inning of relief.
