GREENVILLE, NC – Campbell fell 3-0 to Maryland Thursday afternoon in the opening match of the No Quarter Invitational.
Campbell drops to 3-6, while Maryland moves to 8-1 with the win.
Maryland picked up the first set 25-20 by hitting .382 with only two attacking errors, while the Camels committed six errors in the frame.
Victoria Tupy got off to a hot start with seven kills in the first.
The Terps pulled away from the Camels in the second set, taking it 25-14. Campbell fell in an early 12-4 hole and couldn't work back into the set, hitting just .047 in the frame.
Campbell played its closest set of the match in the third, but couldn't keep the match alive with a 25-21 third set loss. The defense held Maryland to hitting .158 in the third, forcing as many errors (6) as the Terps had made in the first two sets combined.
Emma McCartney led Campbell with 16 kills in her return to the lineup. Tupy added 13 as the only Camels in double figures.
Hannah Pattie logged a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs.
Maryland was led by Sydney Bryant's 11 kills, with Sara Toth dishing out 36 assists.
The Camels are back in action tomorrow for day two of the No Quarter Invitational, facing Old Dominion at 2 p.m.
