BUIES CREEK, N.C. In just a six inning game, the weather was
not the only obstacle in the Camels' path on Friday afternoon. North Florida scored early and
often en route to the 13-3 victory. The loss drops the Camels season
record to 11-11 overall with a 2-7 mark in league play. Mean while the Ospreys improve to
10-16 on the season with a 4-6 record in the A-Sun.
Josh Fish would get the call on the hill for the Camels on
Friday. Fish's outing would
be short lived as the senior from Bellingham, Wash. faced seven
batters, giving up five runs on just two hits. Fish would also walk three batters in
his one-third of an inning appearance.
UNF got the day started with a few free base runners, after two
walks and a hit batter.
They would score their first run on an Andrew Karmeris RBI single
and would wind up posting four more runs on the board.
Campbell would go three up three down in the first three innings as
they fell behind 8-0 to the visiting Ospreys. Campbell would finally break through
in the fourth inning.
Already trailing 12-0 entering the home half of the fourth,
Campbell would get a free base runner in Matt Keen (Four Oaks,
N.C.), who was hit by a pitch. Keen would later steal second and come
around to score thanks to Alex Aycoth's RBI single through the left
side.
Campbell hurlers Logan Davis (Ft. Cobb, Okla.) and Hunter Ford
(Wilmington, N.C.) would finish the game on the hill for the
Camels. Davis would pitch
1.2 innings allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out
two. Ford would pitch the
final four innings, giving up four runs on five hits while fanning
four batters.
UNF would answer the Camels first run, as they scored a run of
their own in the top of the fifth. Andrew Karmeris would come in to score
during a pick off of TJ Thompson.
Campbell would push two runners across in the bottom of the sixth
to close the gap to 13-3.
That would prove to be the final frame as heavy rain showers
entered the area.
Campbell and North Florida will square off in doubleheader action
tomorrow afternoon beginning at 1 p.m. Due to possible rain/thunderstorms in
the area tomorrow, fans should continue to check www.GoCamels.com
