FORT MYERS, Fla. The Campbell University Baseball team was
swept in doubleheader action by Florida Gulf Coast on Friday. After the two losses to the
Eagles, the Camels now sit 8-3 overall and drop to 1-3 in league
play. FGCU improves to 7-5

The Camels dropped
game one of the doubleheader to the Eagles by a score of

start on the hill for the Camels. The senior from Wilmington, N.C.
pitched just four innings allowing nine hits while seven Eagles

Campbell fell
behind 4-0 after two innings, but the Camels cut the lead in half
thanks to Ryan Hamme's two-run home run in the third inning. The home run was Hamme's first
of the season.
The Camels would
find themselves in an 8-2 hole after four complete innings. The Camels would post four runs
between the sixth and seventh innings, and the scoring would go
back and forth the remainder of the game.
Campbell would
trail eight to six heading to the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles would answer the
Campbell rally with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to
extend the lead to 11-6.
The Camels would put pressure on the Eagles again in the top of the
eighth inning after scoring three runs and cutting the lead to
11-9.
The Eagles would
again thwart a possible Campbell comeback by scoring three in their
half of the eighth to extend the lead again to five runs. Campbell would get just one run
across in the ninth, losing game one 14-10.
The Camels were
paced at the plate by Ryan Hamme, Ellis Lowe, and Zach
Johnson. Hamme and Johnson
(Smithfield, N.C.) both finished game one 2-of-4; Hamme drove in
three runs while Johnson scored three runs. Lowe (San Diego, Calif.) finished game
one batting 3-of-5 and he scored two of Campbell's 10 runs.

innings. Campbell could
manage just two runs in the same time frame, as the Eagles took
game two 16-8.

Josh Fish, a senior from Bellingham, Wash., got the start on the
hill for the Camels. Fish
pitched four solid innings giving up just three hits while four
Eagles came around to score. Fish would be replaced by Jonathon
Lopez (Vineland, N.J).
Lopez pitched one complete inning allowing five hits and four
earned runs. The four
earned runs allowed FGCU to take the lead for good, and Lopez would
be credited with the loss.
The loss drops Lopez's season record to 1-1.

Cobb, Okla.) and Colin Parker (Princeton, N.C.) would also see
action on the hill for Campbell. The pair would give up 11 hits and
