Camels Sweep Fairleigh Dickinson with 15-3, 10-4 Wins Saturday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell completed the sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday, defeating the Knights 15-3 and 10-4 in a doubleheader, improving to 13-2 on the season.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Campbell used five innings with multiple runs to win 15-3.

Four Camels earned two hits in the game, and Clayton Brown led all batters with four RBI.

The only time CU trailed came in the first as the Kinghts knocked in one run. The Camels quickly answered in the bottom of the inning as Elijah Trail and Michael Felton batted in Ben McQuown and Brent Graham.

In the first, McQuown stole two bases, and added another in the fourth to up his season total to 22.

Campbell put the most runs across the board in the sixth inning, posting five to make the score 13-1. Brown tripled to right field to bring Trevor Lane, Michael DeLucia, and Trail across, and also scored on the same play on a Knight throwing error.

Heath Bowers earned his third win of the season on five innings pitched with seven hits, one earned run, five strikeouts and one walk.

For Fairleigh Dickinson, Eric Anderson led with three hits and three RBI. Joe Borelli was credited with the loss after pitching 2.2 innings with five hits, five runs, four earned, and four walks.

To sweep the series, CU scored runs in six innings to win 10-4 on 11 hits.

Three Camels batted in two runs apiece in the outing. Felton, Trail, and Brown put across six total runs. Lane added one RBI of his own to total seven in the game.

After the Kights scored one run in the first and second innings, CU took the lead for good in the bottom of the second. Brown reached on a fielder's choice, bringing in Olson and moving Ben Fish to third. Fish then scored Campbell's fourth run on a passed ball.

In the third inning, Felton knocked a solo homer, his second of the year, to left field, bringing the score to 4-2 in favor of the Camels.

McQuown stole two bases, bringing his total for the series to five and his season total to 24, leading the nation.

Hector Cedano picked up his third win of the season on four innings pitched with seven hits, one earned run, a walk, and three strikeouts.

John Giakas brought in two runs on two hits to lead Fairleigh Dickinson. Brendan Butler moved to 1-1 on the season with the loss, as he pitched five innings with six hits, six runs, all earned, three walks, and two strikeouts.

The Camels are back in action Wednesday as they take on East Carolina at Jim Perry Stadium with a 6 p.m. first pitch. CU defeated the Pirates 6-4 Feb. 19 in Greenville.
