DeLucia Powers Camels Over Appalachian State 11-6

THOMASVILLE, N.C. – Michael DeLucia blasted two home runs and drove in six to lead Campbell in an 11-6 win over Appalachian State Wednesday night at Finch Field.

Campbell improved to 32-8 on the season with the win, while ASU dipped to 21-12 overall.

DeLucia, a senior from Pembroke Pines, Fla., blasted a three-run homer in the first and a two-run shot in the fifth, both to left. The senior came into the night without a career home run in his two seasons as a Camel. The catcher also drove in a run in the third with a single through the right side.

In all, DeLucia went 3-for-3 with six RBI, also reaching in the seventh after being hit by a pitch.

Michael Felton and David Olson also registered three hits each in the win over the Mountaineers, going 3-for-5 and 3-for-4, respectively. Olson notched a pair of RBI and scored three times, while Felton scored twice.

Brent Graham, meanwhile, recorded a 2-for-4 night with two runs. The senior infielder added a RBI in the ninth, bunting for a hit and scoring Colby Fox from third. It marked Graham's ninth bunt single of the season.

Blake Boyce added an RBI while Elijah Trail scored a run for the Camels in the win.

Matt Marksberry picked up the win to move to 5-2 on the season, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with six punchouts and three walks. Coley Thompkins pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Logan Self pitched two scoreless innings with a walk, while Ryan Thompson allowed two hits and struck out two in two innings.

Tyler Jackson was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned on seven hits with a strikeout and a walk, falling to 1-1. Rob Howard surrendered two runs on three hits with two strikeouts in two innings, while Rob Marcello allowed an unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts in two frames.

Tyler Moore allowed a run on two hits with a walk in an inning for the Mountaineers.

Jaylin Davis, Will Callaway and Noah Holmes each collected two hits to pace ASU. Callaway drove in a pair on a home run in the first. Dillon Dobson, Gabe Dimock and Preston Troutman also added RBI for App. State in the loss.

Campbell returns to Big South play this weekend, hosting VMI Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
