Baseball Defeats North Carolina A&T 10-2

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Will Albertson knocked in two and scored twice while Jesse Simmons scored three times to lead Campbell past North Carolina A&T on the road at War Memorial Stadium Tuesday night.

Campbell moves to 24-5 overall with the win, while A&T falls to 9-19 on the season.

Albertson went 2-for-3 with a double, adding two RBI and two runs scored. Simmons scored three times, adding a hit, while Nick Ray scored twice with a base hit.

Ben McQuown and Brent Graham also notched a pair of RBI for the Camels in the midweek win.

The Camels scored two in the second on an Albertson RBI double and a wild pitch. Campbell took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third with RBI from Graham and David Olson.

Campbell then added three in the fourth, with Simmons and Albertson scoring on walks, and Clayton Brown scoring on a double play.

A&T answered in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs on sacrifice flies from Kelvin Freeman and Cameron Jergens.

In the eighth, Albertson and Brown registered RBI base hits and McQuown's sacrifice fly scored another, giving the Camels a 10-2 advantage.

Paul Eyster worked five innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks, earning the win and moving to 1-0 on the season. Trevor Lane worked three innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out five and walking one, while Jordan Farthing pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out two and walking one.

Aggie starter Justin Godette (0-3) pitched three innings, allowing six runs on three hits with three walks. Joshua Thompson allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits with three walks in relief, while DarArmani Swift struck out one in an inning on the mound.

Jevoanny Tolentino paced A&T with a hit and a run scored.

The Camels return to Jim Perry Stadium tomorrow, taking on Old Dominion at 6 p.m. Big South play continues for CU this weekend at Presbyterian, April 5-7.
