No. 25 Camels Top Aggies 10-2, McQuown Sets Stolen Bases Mark

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Ben McQuown knocked in three, scored twice and set the Campbell single season stolen bases record to lead the Camels in a 10-2 win over North Carolina A&T Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.

Campbell improved to 29-5 on the season with its sixth straight win, while NC A&T falls to 11-22 overall. The Camels are now 18-3 at the new Jim Perry Stadium in its first season.

McQuown, a senior from Waianae, Hawaii, came into the night tied with Brandon Scott's (2005-08) 2008 mark of 35 and swiped second and third in the seventh, breaking the Campbell record.

The outfielder's triple with the bases loaded in the second highlighted a six run second inning for the Camels. McQuown also scored on an A&T error in the fourth and a RBI single from Michael Felton in the seventh.

Felton posted a team-high three hits in the win, knocking in two. Brent Graham, John Reilly and Clayton Brown also registered RBI on the night, while Ben Fish scored twice. Graham walked three times and scored two runs. David Olson added a 2-for-4 night with a run scored for the Camels.

Matt Marksberry picked up the win, moving to 4-2 on the season after allowing two runs on 10 hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in six innings. Ryan Koopman pitched a perfect ninth, striking out one. Trevor Lane bridged the gap, fanning four and walking two.

Kirby Whicker surrendered five runs, four earned, on six hits in 1 1/3 for the Aggies, falling to 2-2 with the loss. Jamal Clark allowed a pair of runs on two hits with four walks in 1 2/3, while Shane Carter recorded a run on one hit with two walks.

Luke Tendler went 4-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Aggies. Cameron Jergens and Brandon Wilkerson added two hits each. The Aggies left 13 on base in the loss.

The Camels will be back in action tomorrow night at Jim Perry Stadium, hosting Savannah State at 4 p.m. Campbell hosts new Big South rival Longwood over the weekend, with Friday's 5 p.m. game to be broadcast on ESPN 3. The series will conclude Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
