RALEIGH –
Lawrence Kipkoech broke the school record in the 10,000 meters to highlight Campbell performances over the weekend at the 31st running of the Raleigh Relays.
A four-time NCAA All-American, Kipkoech finished the event in 28:48.26 more than six seconds faster than the previous record (28:54.42) set by fellow All-American
Amon Terer in 2016. Kipkoech finished second overall in the event, just ahead of teammate
Amon Kemboi (28:55.46).
On the women's side,
Sabina Allen finished second – and was the highest collegiate finisher – in the long jump with a leap of 6.03 meters.
Shenelle McKay turned in a fourth-place effort in the high jump (1.70 meters).
Twenty Campbell athletes competed in the Raleigh Relays, which included 118 different teams from across the country, including 12 ACC teams and four Big South opponents.
Campbell continues its outdoor season next Friday and Saturday in the Vertklasse Meeting hosted by High Point and the USC Gamecock Invitational.
