Camels finish 6th at Daniel Island

Lilja, Blomander, Bjelke in top 16

CHARLESTON, S.C. – With three golfers among the top 16 individuals, Campbell finished sixth on the team leader board after Monday's final round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.

Henrik Lilja (T7) produced his fourth-straight top-10 finish, while Edwin Blomander (T10) posted his best showing of the season. Freshman Henric Bjelke (T16) earned a fourth-consecutive top-25 performance.

Seton Hall (282-282-294—858) won top honors at 6-under par in the 20-team field, four stroke better than South Carolina (289-282-291—862).  The College of Charleston (288-284-292—864) and Florida State (289-279-296—864) tied for third at even par, followed by Virginia (291-281-298—870) and Campbell (294-288-290—872).

The Camels placed ahead of six other Big South Conference schools in their final event of the fall schedule.

Lilja (73-70-72) made 15 birdies over the 54-hole event at the par-72, 7446-yard Ralston Creek Course designed by Rees Jones.  He played par, or better, golf in 10 of 12 rounds over four tournaments in the fall campaign.

Blomander earned his best finish since transferring to Campbell in August 2020 by making 11 birdies for the tournament, including eight in his final-round, 4-under 68 Monday.  Bjelke (68-74-76—218) opened the event with his best collegiate round and fell one place shy of his best showing this fall.

Nevill Ruiter of the College of Charleston (69-69-74—212) claimed individual honors at 4-under, one stroke better than a four-way tie for second place.

The Camels return to action Feb. 11-13 in the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at Hammock Creek GC in Palm City, Fla.
