PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. –
Pontus Nyholm is on top of the individual leader board and Campbell is tied for second in the team standings after 36 holes Monday of the Golfweek Spring Invitational at True Blue.
Nyholm, who won the True Blue Amateur last September, followed an opening-round 69 with a bogey-free 66 Monday afternoon to sit at 9-under par (135), three shots ahead of North Dakota State's Jack Johnson (70-68—138) and Carter Morgan of Old Dominion (70-68—138).
North Dakota State is 20-under as a team (279-277—556) on the par-72, 6926-yard Mike Strantz design, eight shots ahead of the Camels (284-280—564) and Delaware (277-287—564) entering Tuesday's final round. Old Dominion (286-280—566) is fourth in the 10-team field.
Nyholm, recorded his third- and fourth-consecutive rounds in the 60s following last week's runner-up finish at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate. His opening round included five birdies and an eagle. Monday afternoon, Nyholm birdied four-straight holes from the par-3 seventh through the par-5 10th to move into the lead.
Campbell junior
Henrik Lilja is tied for ninth after posting a collegiate career-low 68 Monday afternoon and stands at 3-under par 141 (73-68). Fellow junior
Edwin Blomander is tied for 13th at 2-under (69-73—142) after he posted his best round for the Camels since transferring to the program last fall.
Josh Hetherington is tied for 30th (73-73—146) and
Romain Lanteri T45th (74-78—152). Competing as individuals, Campbell's
Alejandro Cogollo (74-79—153) and
Claude Churchward (79-75—154) are tied for 49th and 51st, respectively.
As a team, Campbell played the par-5 holes at 13-under and made 41 birdies Monday, second only to North Dakota State, which was 19-under on the par fives and had 42 birdies.
Nyholm is second in the field in birdies (11), par 5 scoring (-6) and par-4 scoring (-3). Lilja is tied with Nyholm on the par-4 holes (-2), T3rd on the par-3s. He made 25 pars and eight birdies on the day.
Blomander's day included 24 pars and seven birdies. Hetherington made nine birdies over 36 holes, T6th in the field.
Campbell will be paired with North Dakota State and Delaware for Tuesday's final round and start from the first tee at 8:25 a.m. Live scoring is available through Golfstat.com.

The Course – True Blue GC (Par 72, 6926 yards): True Blue Golf Club, Mike Strantz's fourth signature golf course, opened in February 1998. Strantz also designed the award-winning Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, which opened in 1994, on land adjacent to True Blue Golf Club. For his efforts at True Blue Golf Club and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club, Strantz was named "Architect of the Year" by Golf World in 1998.
