Camels finish 10th at Noblesville Regional

5th-straight postseason berth

NOBLESVILLE, IND. –Campbell turned in its best round of the week and moved up to 10th on the team leader board after Wednesday's final round of the NCAA Noblesville Regional Championship at The Sagamore Club.
 
No. 5 Texas (282-279-283—844) claimed a five-stroke victory over No. 18-Tennessee (285-283-281—849) and No. 8 North Carolina (285-284-280—849). No. 28 Louisville (288-282-284—854) and No. 28 UAB (296-288-275—859) also qualified for the NCAA Championship, May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Course in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Campbell (307-296-289—892) finished in front of UT-Martin (299-300-297—896), 43rd-ranked Duke (305-289-303—897) and Loyola Chicago (309-302-299—910) in the 13-team field.
 
Cole Bradley of Purdue won the individual title at 10-under 206 (72-69-65) and claimed a berth in the NCAA finals as the low individual not on a qualifying team.

Junior Edwin Blomander (74-72-71—217) led the Camels on the par-72, 7173-yard Jack Nicklaus design.  He finished the event with 11 birdies and 29 pars while playing the par-5 layouts at 4-under.  On Wednesday, the native of Eksjo, Sweden made four birdies and three bogeys.
 
Fellow junior Henrik Lilja finished tied for 42nd at 5-over 221 (78-71-72) after an event where he compiled 31 pars and 10 birdies.
 
Senior Pontus Nyholm, the Big South golfer of the year ranked No. 15 nationally, concluded his collegiate career after finishing in a tie for 47th place (72-76-75—223).  Fellow senior Josh Hetherington moved up to T63 after shooting one-under par Wednesday (83-77-71—231) and finishing tied for fourth in the field with 37 pars.
 
Under the direction of head coach John Crooks, the Camels made their program-record fifth-consecutive NCAA regional appearance after winning the Big South Conference title for the third time in the last four opportunities.
