Box Score ATHENS, GA. - Campbell was unable to hold off a first half surge from Georgia, falling 7-1 on Thursday night at Turner Soccer Complex.
Laney Peabody scored the lone goal of the evening for the Camels, connecting on a header off a corner kick by Cazzi Norgren. Campbell earned the corner kick after Jessica Donald's shot on goal was saved by Georgia.
Campbell nearly had its second goal of the evening as Donald's shot from outside the box was saved and bounced off the crossbar in the 55th minute.
The Bulldogs built their three-goal lead in under a 10-minute span as Mollie Belisle netted the opening goal in the 2nd minute on an unassisted shot, sneaking by the outstretched arms of Stephanie Martelli.
Dani Murguia doubled her team's score in the next minute after converting a penalty kick. Abby Boyan added more cushion later in the 11th minute with help from Murguia and Kayla Bruster. Danielle Lewin answered Campbell's goal by scoring just before the half in the 44th minute.
Georgia tacked on three more scores in the second half (Murguia 68'; Belisle 81'; Lewin 85') to close out the match.
