JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Heavy rains halted play Monday in the opening day of the Battle at Briar's Creek. Originally scheduled as a 54-hole tournament, the event will resume Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. and be shortened to 36 holes.
None of the 14 teams in the field were under par Monday when play was stopped due to unplayable course conditions, Jacksonville (+1) led the event, followed by East Carolina (+8), Francis Marion (+9), Winthrop (+10), Memphis (+10), Furman (+10) and Campbell (+11).

Henric Bjelke is even par and tied for fifth through 16 holes.
Edwin Blomander is tied for 10th at plus-one through 15.
Henrik Lilja (+4) and
Claude Churchward (+6) completed 15 holes Monday, while
Petter Hagberg (+8) finished 14.
Stephen Carroll of ECU (-2) held the individual lead over a trio of golfers at 1-under when play was stopped.
