Camels complete first day at South Carolina Invite

Kioko, Ewoi earn podium finishes

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Campbell finished its first day at the South Carolina Invitational with a couple podium finishes on the track behind strong distance performances.

ON THE TRACK
Athanas Kioko finished first in the men's mile behind a personal best time of 4:02.38 while Travis Koekemoer followed in fourth with a time of 4:08.28. Kioko's time ranks as the best in the Big South this season.

In the women's 3000m, Dorcus Ewoi finished second in 9:55.28 and Lesego Mpshe finished fourth in 10:00.96.

Trevon Compito, making his season debut, nearly topped his indoor personal best in the 400m after finishing in 48.90.

IN THE FIELD
DJ McClain placed fourth in the men's weight throw after his throw cleared 15.90m.

Jenna Dankert placed eighth in the women's weight throw with a mark of 14.93m.

Campbell returns tomorrow for the final day of the South Carolina Invitational.
