Two Camels earn Big South weekly awards

BUIES CREEK - Claranne Fechter and Aley Clent both earned weekly awards after helping Campbell to a 2-0 weekend with wins at USC Upstate and UNC Asheville. Fechter was named Libero of the Week for the second straight week while Aley Clent earned her first Freshman of the Week nod.

Fechter tallied 35 digs, good for 5.0 digs/set across the two matches. Her defense helped hold both opponents to hitting .122 or worse. She tallied 17 digs at Upstate while holding them to hitting .064, their lowest mark of the year. The junior followed up that performance with 18 digs in just three sets at UNC Asheville.

This is the seventh time during her Campbell career she's been named Libero of the Week.

Clent had a breakout weekend by collecting 19 kills without committing a single attack error. The Coppell, Texas native began the weekend with a career-high 12 kills in four sets at Upstate while hitting .600 on the night. Her encore performance saw her hit .700 with seven kills on just 10 swings in three sets at Asheville.

She is the first Camel to win Freshman of the Week this season, and the first to win it since 2020 when Chloe Cook earned the award four times that year.

Campbell will look to remain unbeaten in conference with a pair of home matches on Thursday and Friday against Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb. Both matches are scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
