2023 softball schedule released

BUIES CREEK – Head coach Trena Prater has announced the 2023 Campbell softball schedule. The back-to-back Big South Conference champions play 53 games featuring seven Big South series and 32 non-conference games. 

The Camels open the season Feb. 10-12 at the Charlotte Invitational where they will face East Tennessee State, Miami of Ohio, Charlotte, and South Carolina. 

Campbell will welcome Purdue to Amanda Littlejohn Stadium on Feb. 16 for its home opener before heading to the Columbia Invitational where they will face ETSU and South Carolina both for a second time, as well as Western Kentucky and future CAA foe Delaware. 

The Camels will travel to UNC Greensboro on Feb. 22 for a midweek game before returning home to host tournaments on back-to-back weekends starting with the Campbell Invitational on Feb. 24-26 featuring Wagner, Ohio, Rider, and national powerhouse Duke. 

The following weekend, Mar. 3-5, Camel Stampede featuring, Canisius, Lehigh, Furman, and NC Central before heading to Coastal Carolina on Mar. 8. Detroit Mercy will enter the Creek on Mar. 10-12 as will the NC State Wolfpack on Mar. 15.

Other non-conference matchups include Queens University of Charlotte (Mar. 22) at home, North Carolina (Apr. 19) on the road, and two doubleheaders against UNC Wilmington (Apr. 26) and Norfolk State (May 2) both at home. 

During Big South play the Camels host USC Upstate (Mar. 25-26), Presbyterian (Apr. 1-2), Gardner-Webb (Apr. 15-16), and Radford (Apr. 22-23). Road dates for the Big South series include Winthrop (Mar. 18-19), Charleston Southern (Apr. 7-8), and Longwood (May 6-7) for the last series of the regular season. 

The Big South Tournament is set for May 9-13 and the location is yet to be determined. 

In 2022, Campbell finished with a 37-19 (21-6 Big South) record and won both the Big South regular season and tournament title for the second straight season. The Camels earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in program history and competed in the Knoxville Regional.
