BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell offensive tackle
Mike Edwards has been named Second Team FCS All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
The redshirt senior was named First Team All-Big South following the 2022 season, anchoring the left side of an offensive line that helped CU set a single season passing yards record for the second straight year. From Hope Mills, Edwards started Campbell's first nine games before being lost due to injury, pushing the Camels to 500 or more yards or total offense four times.
Edwards has also been named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 and Reese's Senior Bowl watch lists.
He is the second Camel this season to earn All-America honors, following long snapper
Jackson Hayes, who took
Third Team Stats Perform honors earlier this week.
Edwards is the first Campbell offensive lineman, and the fifth Camel all-time to garner All-America accolades, joining Kurt Odom (fullback, 2013),
Brevin Allen (defensive end, 2021) and
Caleb Snead (wide receiver, 2021) in addition to Hayes.
Four Camels have also been named to various freshman All-America teams, including linebacker
CJ Tillman (2021), quarterback
Hajj-Malik Williams (2019), Snead (2018) and quarterback Daniel Smith (2017). Linebacker
Justice Galloway-Velazquez, meanwhile, was named to HERO Sports' Sophomore All-American team in 2019.
