WILMINGTON, N.C. - Avoiding inclement weather conditions, Campbell finished a successful meet to start the outdoor season at the Seahawk Invitational at the Harold Greene Track & Field Complex.
The Camels took nine events on the day and held 19 podium finishes overall. Due to inclement weather in the morning the meet began late. Several events did not get completed before the end of the meet.
ON THE TRACK
Germanie Bozeman was the lone Camel to run on the track as she took first in the women's 100m (12.33) and 200m (26.88).
IN THE FIELD
Carson Key took first in the men's long jump at 5.90m (19' 4.25").
Omar Ibrahim earned second in the men's shot put with a throw of 14.93m (48' 11.75"). Jenna Dankert and Samantha Ennis took first and second overall in the women's shot put. Dankert led with a mark of 13.41m (44' 0") while Ennis finished with a best of 12.71m (41' 8.50").
Campbell swept the men's discus as Andrew Ward took first with a mark of 42.98m (141' 0"). Ibrahim took second at 42.72m (140' 2") while Timon Edelen held third at 42.65m (139' 11").
Autumn Judd and Joy Gerow led the women's discus. Judd took first with a mark of 41.28m (135' 5") while Gerow's mark of 37.47m (122' 11") earned her a second place finish.
In the men's hammer throw DJ McClain led with a first place toss of 56.27m (184' 7"). Ward took third in the event at 47.70m (156' 6").
Campbell also swept the women's hammer throw led by Dankert's mark of 46.57m (152' 9"). Gerow took second in the event, just slightly behind with a throw at 46.56m (152' 9").
Josh Kudrick took first in the men's javelin (51.78m / 169' 10") while Nicholas Veynovich held second (51.59m / 169' 3").
