BUIES CREEK - Three Camels earned all-CAA honors in the program's first team in the league. Chloe Cook and Melody Paige each earned first-team honors, and Claranne Fechter was named to the second team.
The awards give both seniors Cook and Fechter four all-conference honors in four years at Campbell, making them among the most decorated players in program history. Melody Paige picked up her third all-conference designation in her fifth and final year in Buies Creek.
Cook tallied over 300 kills for the first time in her career along thanks to a career-best 2.94 kills/set. The senior tallied 10+ kills 19 times this season, highlighted by a career-high 22 against William & Mary on Sept. 24. Cook finished fifth in the CAA in total kills (216) in league matches this season.
This is Cook's first first-team all-conference honor. The Nacogdoches, Texas product has previously been named Big South Freshman of the Year/second-team, honorable mention, and second-team again before her brilliant senior season.
Melody Paige turned in another incredibly efficient season, hitting .358 on the year, which is good for third best in program history and gives her two of the top three spots in the record book. The Lancaster, Calif. native was even better in league play hitting .427, .086 higher than the next closest player in CAA matches. Paige hit .400 or better 11 times this season, all coming in league games. She also added strong defense at the net with 93 blocks on the year to add to her program-best mark of 498 total career blocks.
Paige picks up her second straight first-team all-conference nod after doing so last season in the Big South as well. She was also named a 2020 all-conference honorable mention.
Claranne Fechter landed on the second-team after leading the CAA in digs (467) and digs/set (4.32) this season. The senior had double-figure digs in all but four matches and surpassed the 20-dig mark seven times. Her season high of 31 digs against Delaware on Sept. 17 were the most by any CAA player in a four-set match this season, and the second-most overall. Fechter also proved effective on offense, serving up 34 aces and dished out 125 assists.
The Powell, Ohio native picked up her second consecutive first-team nod, and has previously been named all-freshman/second-team, honorable mention, and Defensive Player of the Year/first-team.
This is the second year in a row, and just the second time in program history that Campbell has landed two players on first-team all-conference. Both Fechter and Paige were all-conference selections in 2022.
The trio will lead Campbell into this week's CAA tournament in Towson, Md. The Fighting Camels are the three-seed and will face sixth-seeded Northeastern Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. The winner will advance to play Delaware the following day at the same time.
