Camels announce 2024 signing class

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University wrestling and Head Coach Scotti Sentes have announced the 2024 signing class. The group includes 12/13 student-athletes from 10 different states. All 10 weight classes are represented in the signing class.

Colby Crouch – Troy, Ill. | Triad HS | 125-133

Crouch currently holds a record of 80-2 with 52 pins to this point in his career. He was the 2022 state champion, the runner-up in 2022, and a NHSCA National Champion in 2021. He was a NHSCA All-American in 2021 and a 2020 PSN All-American. Colby plans to major in Business.



Reese Courtney – Greenwood, Ind. | Center Grove HS | 141-149

A three-time AAU All-American, Courtney joins the program with a current high school record of 97-18. He was the state runner-up in 2022, and he led his nationally ranked team with the most takedowns in the 2022 season. Reese intends to major in Trust and Wealth Management at Campbell.



Michael Trujillo – Phoenix, Ariz. | Wyoming Seminary (Pa.) | 141-149

An NHSCA All-American, Trujillo currently holds an 88-16 record in high school. The 2021 Arizona state champion, Trujillo will wrestle at either 141 or 149 pounds.



Seth Larson – Flowery Branch, Ga. | Flowery Branch HS | 157-165

A NHSCA champion, Larson boasts a 90-3 record in high school. He has won the state championship in each of the previous three seasons and is a two-time NHSCA finalist. Larson is the first three-time state champion in his school's history.



Phil Lamka – Fenton, Mich. | Fenton HS | 157-165

The MHSAA State Champion in 2023, Lamka currently holds a 126-12 high school record. He recorded 257 takedowns in a year, and Intermat ranked him #12. He also plans on majoring in Business.



Kendrick Hodge – Miami, Fla. | Somerset Academy | 165-174

A two-time state champion in 2022 and 2023, Hodge holds an overall record of 99-12. He placed second at NHSCA 2023 and was the Tyrant National Champion in 2023 and the Michigan Grappler National Champion in 2022.



Mike Slade – Altoona, Iowa | Southeast Polk HS | 184-197

Slade comes to Campbell with a current 106-28 record through high school. He placed third in the Iowa state championship in 2023, and he was a Fargo All-American in 2022. That same year, Slade took first place at the National Showcase. Slade plans to major in Kinesiology (pre-med) during his time in Buies Creek.



Sawyer VanRider – New Smyrna Beach, Fla. | New Smyrna Beach HS | 184-197

VanRider has qualified for the state championship twice, placing in 2023. He holds a 62-20 high school record. He is a two-time Florida Freestyle Champion (2022, 2023) and was the runner-up in the 2023 Florida Greco state competition. He earned All-America status after placing fifth at the 2023 Adidas Nationals. VanRider is also a two-time member of USA Wrestling Team Florida. He plans to major in Cybersecurity.



Lane Kiser – Louisville, Ky. | Trinity HS | 184-197

Kiser has placed three years in a row at the KHSAA state championships and holds a record of 137-12. He has been named All-State those three seasons and has also been selected as a NHSCA All-American. He notched a 41-1 record in his sophomore year and has led his team in pins in two separate seasons.



Kaleb Wright – Gloucester City, N.J. | Gloucester City HS | 184-197-HWT

Wright currently holds a record of 84-18. He placed second at the Nuway Nationals, and he was named second-team All-South Jersey. He is planning on majoring in Trust and Wealth Management.



Brock Hacker – Johns Creek, Ga. | Johns Creek HS | 197

With a high school record of 121-14, Hacker will join Campbell and compete at 197. He holds the school record for most wins, and he was the first wrestler from his school to win the state championship, which he did in 2023. Hacker also placed eighth at the 2022 Fargo Nationals, earning himself Fargo All-American.



 Aaron Ries – Wadsworth, Ohio | Wadsworth HS | HWT

Ries has amassed a 109-34 record to this point, including placing twice in the state championships. In 2022, he was a 16u Fargo All-American. He has been named a Powerade All-American and was a two-time all-state selection by the OHSAA.
