On his overall performance on the day:
"It was great. Especially knowing how my season started. I wasn't having a great season, but I kept at it. Getting a big win over a top-10 guy in my first match was something that I really needed. I'm focused on improving because I can always improve and take more shots. I'm very grateful for today."
On specific improvements he has been focused on:
"We practice all the techniques, and the coaches are great, but what they've helped me with is my mental state. Being out for so long, I was struggling and stressing myself out so much if I was going to be the same coming back. But they've helped me, they took the pressure off me and told me to just let it fly. Today it showed, and I thank them for that."
165 Dom Baker
On his approach today and what was working for him on the mat:
"Honestly, my approach for the day started weeks ago. I started doing the right things in the room and talking with coaches to figure out what I need to implement in my wrestling to get those big wins. There's a lot of self-talk, hyping myself help, telling myself I'm good enough for these matches. I just believed today, and I went out there and I said, 'I got nothing to lose, so I'm just going to start firing.'"
On how hyping himself up has been a positive impact:
"It's been a tough season, I've lost some big matches that I felt like I could have won. Today, I just knew that if I went out there and attacked to get the points on the board, I would win the match. I couldn't stop wrestling, and I think that's what changed throughout the day."
